Re-reading a lot of 90's Batman lately, and honestly, is there a better, more iconic artist for The Bat than Norm Breyfogle? Neal Adams maybe? Okay, you got me there, but I would classify them together more as 1a and 1b than 1 and 2.

So this might be the easier question to ask before I try to jump back into his world: Who in Spider-Man's life DOESN'T have a symbiote right now?

Thinking back on it the only times I read Detective and/or Batman regularly was
When Miller was doing year 1. Whenever that Many Deaths of Batman with the Bryne covers happened. And like Knightfall and 3 months into the storyline after that.
Love Batman. But just never bought either of his main titles often off the new release rack/wall/whatever.
But I was similar with Superman. Never read Action or Superman much, outside of Moore or Bryne writing either. Would buy DC comics presents most months.
While eating dinner earlier re-read for the close to 100th time the DC Presents Alan Moore/Rick Veitch Swamp Thing/Superman cross over.
That issue got so many of my friends to ask to borrow my Swamp Thing comics. And same issue got me in deep trouble with my aunt right after it came out.
Usually back then once a year my parents would go up to Michigan for 2 weeks to salmon fish and see friends. This would be during the school year so I would either go stay with a cousin who lived near us or for a bit one of the neighbors.
Cousin had bought the issue. I get dropped off there Sunday at like 5pm. "Here you can have this comic. It sucks. they dont even fight!"
We pile into his mom's lincoln. Drive the 8 minutes to church, and I am in the back seat hypnotized by this comic. So when we go in I hid it under my shirt.
Not long into the church services I ask to go use the bathroom. Go back there and start reading again. I must have been gone a long time cause Aunt sent cousin to find me. He opens the door sees me reading. Says he is gonna rat me out unless I agree to give him 5 bucks. Give him the 5 bucks and go back to the pew. Where he whispers to his mom about me reading the comic in the crapper.
The whole first week I was staying with my cousin I was grounded. Bastard got 5 bucks off me,which was 2 weeks allowance back then, then still snitched on me.

So this might be the easier question to ask before I try to jump back into his world: Who in Spider-Man's life DOESN'T have a symbiote right now? Liz Allan, Betty, Ned, Jonah, Robbie, Randy, Norah, Teresa.... MJ in 616 still hasn't had one, but she was briefly Venom over in the Renew Your Vows reality, and she was Queen Carnage on that awful Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon.

I normally can take or leave variants but this week I couldn't find one of my books on the shelf because the cover was completely unrelated, had no trade dress or even a blurb letting you know what title actually was. All that information was on the back. A clerk had to find it for me.

Spider-Man#5 preview (Dan Slott) monkeysfightingrobots.co/marvel-comics-exclusive-preview-spider-man-5/Hmm, Pete, now cut from the web of life, means He was never bitten by the spider and is actually present at the house when the Burgler invades, and he appears he's going to take the bullet for May. We know he survives because the previous issue's cliffhanger saw him working at Oscorp Also there's a new Spider-Woman patrolling town...probably the Cindy of this new reality, now the only one that was bitten by the spider

Waid says Shazam is going to use the codename 'The Captain' because to say Shazam in casual conversation causes him to switch back and forth

The Captain however is a far better name than just calling himself Shazam...

Dark Web ended with a whimper but it was pretty silly story anyway so eh Good art doesn't salvage a crappy story. This did even more damage to Felicia, Peter, MJ etc...who the hell reveals a major plot point in a recap page? (sigh) at least there's some credible Spider-Man out next week. Kraven's origin finally revealed and in a book that has the true timeline front and centre aiptcomics.com/2023/02/10/marvel-preview-spider-man-the-lost-hunt-4/
