Any love for Kendo Nagasaki? Came here to mention him. Was always fascinated by Nagasaki, there's a guy who really lived his character

In a timely coincidence, there's a programme about old school wrestling on BBC4 tonight (Tuesday 4th October). 'When Wrestling Was Golden - Grapples, Grunts and Grannies. It's been on before, but if you've not seen it it's an enjoyable watch - although there's a very strange section involving Kendo Nagasaki. Enjoy!

If I remember correctly, there's an interview of sorts where he does some sort of bizarre unmasking? It's a very good documentary though

I recommend a book called 'The Wrestling' by Simon Garfield, if anyone has read it? It contains a lot of information on certain wrestlers and the culture within this time period, along with the decline of wrestling on 'World of Sport'. Contains a lot of information and anecdotes about the likes of Les Kellett, Mick McManus, Kendo Nagasaki, Jackie Pallo, Adrian Street and more. I really enjoyed it and will probably read it again soon.

Can't have a discussion of old school British wrestling without a mention of one of the greatest commentators of all time, Kent Walton.

Or some such nonsense.

Or some such nonsense. Yeah, the old footage is from his unmasking where has the tattoo on his head and the black contact lenses. Really cool look to be fair. But yeah, the man lives the gimmick with spiritual bollocks and all the rest of it.

Mark Rocco, Steve Grey and Marty Jones please and thank you.
I wrote some biog articles on some of these guys for Angrymarks years ago. I'll dig them up sometime.
