In reading through the Twitter thread, I noticed that the "FAKE SHIT FOR MAN CHILDREN!!111!1" stuff is alive and well, as if watching "real sports" or whatever those people are into is so much more adult  Of course. I follow a site that tracks ratings and when they reported on cable ratings a few days ago, the headline mentioned WWE, and someone replied 'IT'S SCRIPTED AND FAKE!' The site admin replied "So? All shows are scripted and fake or did you think the plane crash in Manifest really happened?" The guy came back and said something about the site admin being one of those "dumb wrestling fans" and the admin said simply, "Nope, I've never watched it." It was kind of nice watching someone on the outside of fandom using the same argument I do whenever someone says something like that, haha. |
