This is pretty dorky, but I always look forward to hopping on 2K and doing the title changes after a big show like tonight’s Mania. That's what I immediately did, though I couldn't update the women's tag champs because no Kairi. And on another subject, here's how the WWE 2K24 cover wrestlers fared (not counting the 40 Years of Mania collage)... Cody Rhodes (standard edition cover): finished the story and won the Undisputed WWE Championship Bianca Belair (deluxe edition cover): was part of the winning team with Naomi & Jade Cargill against Damage CTRL Rhea Ripley (deluxe edition cover): retained Womens' World Title versus Becky Lynch

So, I came up with a fun way to play this game that I think will add a lot of replayability for me. It's based loosely on Survivor and other elimination based game shows. I call it WWE Gauntlet.
20 participants - Start with 20-man or woman Royal Rumble - The first 4 eliminations are out of the Gauntlet completely. - The next 14 eliminations are placed onto Team Raw or Team SmackDown in the order they are eliminated. - The final two are the captains of their teams, the winner getting the choice of whether to join Team Raw or Team SD. - I created two custom championships to be held by the captains, the WWE Team Raw Championship and WWE Team SmackDown Championship.
16 remaining until down to final 9 - Team Raw vs. Team SD in a 4 on 4 tag team match, participants randomly selected. - Losing team faces off in a Fatal 4 Way where the wrestler who gets pinned is eliminated from the Gauntlet. - Wrestler who gets fall in Fatal 4 Way wins immunity so they can't be eliminated next round. - This cycle continues until there are only 9 wrestlers remaining.
Odds & ends - The wrestler with immunity can grant immunity to another wrestler on their team if they so choose and take their place in the Fatal 4-Way. - If a team captain goes to the Fatal 4-Way elimination match, the wrestler with immunity can opt to compete in the Fatal 4-Way and make it a title match, so the winner becomes the new team captain, but in doing so they surrender immunity and risk being eliminated themself, while also making it possible for the other 2 participants to win the title. - If a team captain is eliminated from the Fatal 4-Way in a non-title match, the remaining members of the team will compete in a match that accommodates their numbers (Ladder Match, etc) to become new team captain (Team Raw/SmackDown Champion). - If one team is so bad that they continuously lose all their members until the numbers are too lopsided to continue the cycle, I will come up with some mechanic to redistribute the remaining participants into even teams.
9 remaining - 1 wrestler has immunity, 8 compete in War Games and the wrestler who takes the fall is eliminated. No immunity in play.
8 remaining - No more teams. 8 wrestlers compete in a Gauntlet. 1st elimination is out, while the winner gets immunity for the next round.
7 remaining - 1 wrestler has immunity, 6 compete in Elimination Chamber. 1st elimination is out, while the winner gets immunity for the next round.
6 remaining - 1 wrestler has immunity, 5 compete in Hell in a Cell. Wrestler who gets pinned is out. No immunity in play.
5 remaining - 5 wrestlers compete in 5-way Gauntlet for immunity/a pass to the Grand Finale. No elimination here. - Remaining 4 wrestlers compete in a 1 on 1 tournament, so they must win 2 more matches to advance to the Grand Finale.
2 remaining - Gauntlet winner vs. Tournament Winner. 2 out of 3 falls, winner is the Gauntlet Champion.
Next Season: Gauntlet Champion, Team Raw Champion, Team SmackDown Champion automatically qualify.
I also like to keep stats, like who wins the most immunities, title defenses, etc.

Here are the nuts and bolts of my Universe Mode. This is an alternate universe where WWE's popularity really exploded, Superstars appear all over TV. Not quite to Crush Hour levels of being all over TV, but you can find a WWE Superstar somewhere on TV in and out of wrestling every day. Here's how the brands work. Major Brands - RAW & HEAT: Monday Night RAW and Thursday Night HEAT. RAW and HEAT are co-brands. That doesn't mean that HEAT is where the lower carders go to die, it is a live show on equal footing to RAW, a twin sister show. Both air live on Netflix. Your commentary team are Vic Joseph, Excalibur & Corey Graves. Backstage you will find Renee Paquette getting all the scoops, and in the ring, Dasha Kuret is our announcer.
- NXT: NXT is once again an equal brand. Behind the scenes, it is still where the up and coming Superstars get a chance to learn how to work TV. NXT airs on Tuesdays on the USA Network. Your commentary team are Byron Saxton, Sarah Schreiber & AJ Lee. Backstage, Kelly Kincade asks the hard questions and in ring, Alicia Taylor is our announcer.
- SmackDown & Velocity: Wednesday Night Velocity and Friday Night SmackDown! Same deal as RAW & HEAT, these shows are sister shows on equal footing. They air on Amazon Prime. Your commentary team are Michael Cole & Tazz. Backstage, Kayla Braxton is our behind the scenes correspondant and in the ring, announcing her heart out is Samantha Irvin.
Minor Brand:
- Mixed Match Challenge: On Saturday Nights, we have mixed gender tag team matches. The show is run by the board without authority figures or show specific titles. It's just a fun show on The CW where you get to see Superstars who don't normally interact in matches and segments together. There is a Mixed Match Challenge Tournament every fall into winter and the finals take place on the last PLE of the year. Your commentary team are Michael Cole, Sarah Schreiber & Corey Graves.
PLE's follow the WWE 2K24 calander with the exception of two additions. In February, we get extreme as ECW reopens it's doors for a hardcore One Night Stand. This is not an ECW reunion show (though you never know who might show up), it is a show done with the spirit of ECW in mind. At the end of the year, we honor the memory and spirit of WCW with our final show, always midday New Years' Eve, Starrcade! The week of Starrcade, RAW and SmackDown put on Nitro and Thunder themed episodes. So, those are the shows, now who's running them? There are four levels in the management structure, it works like this: The Chairwoman of The Board & CEO The Board of Directors The Commissioners The General Managers The Board of Directors are a council of nine and they vote on all major decisions in WWE, they approve all PLE cards by majority vote. The members are as follows. - Stephanie McMahon, Chairwoman of the Board and CEO. This is the sole higher position on the card, Stephanie is present at every PLE and major episodes of weekly programs. Or, at least, that's what she promised upfront.
- Paul Levesque, Chief Operating Officer. He's at every show, obviously because he runs the day to day. If there's a brawl or something really unhinged going on, expect Triple H to show up to try and squash it early.
- Sting. This is your big babyface authority figure, when the heels do something exceptionally shity, expect to see Sting. He's not at every show, but he will make more physical appearances than Jack Tunney.
- Shawn Michaels is also a babyface authority figure, but you will only ever see him in an authority role on NXT.
- JBL, Chief Financial Officer. JBL is your shitty heel on the Board, he power trips and pulls out fast ones on the top babyfaces, always expect a cowardly heel to hide behind him. JBL appears often on all shows.
- Booker T. Booker is a neutral authority figure. You can't predict which way he'll lean in his decisions because he's always been good as a heel or a babyface. That's not to say his decisions are fair or balanced, he just doesn't always lean in one particular alignment. Booker shows about the same frequency as JBL.
- Shane McMahon. Yes, even Shane gets to come back now and then. You'll see him once or twice or year to announce some kind of wild stipulation match main event on a PLE.
- Torrie Wilson, Torrie is a babyface authority figure, you won't see her very often, primarily she's there to pop the crowd, every year she also hosts a ceremony to congratulate the Royal Rumble winners.
- The Undertaker. The judge, jury and very, very rarely the executioner. The only time you see The Undertaker is when someone, usually a heel, really f***s up. Usually that means going to Undertaker's "office" which is only ever seen as a door with blue light coming out from behind it. Someone goes in, and you don't see them again until next week, and you better believe they're on their best behavior.
So, the next rung below is the Commissioners. These guys show up, usually via satellite, to approve announce title matches. You will not see a title match without Commissioner approval (unless a board member is involved). The Commissioners are as follows. - RAW & HEAT are overseen by the Sherriff, Stone Cold Steve Austin. Austin shows up live a couple times a year to annouce a match in person a stun fools. He gets along great with his handpicked GM.
- NXT is overseen by The Commish, Mick Foley. You'll see Mick in plenty of segments (because NXT stays in Florida, so can Mick), just like the old Commish days. He leans heavy on the babyface side. Mick does not get along with his General Managers.
- SmackDown is ruled by The Final Boss, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Rock shows up every now and then but really only during builds for a Big 4 show, which means the General Managers really run the show. Straight up, Rock is still Final Boss and a Bloodline guy. He is cited with "executive level power", which Mick and Austin do not have.
That covers the Commissioner roles, it's really just an excuse to get Austin, Rock and Foley on shows now and then. So, who are the General Managers? - On RAW & HEAT, we have Noelle Foley. Noelle is the babyface of all babyface authority figures. Her goal is to run everything fairly to put on the best pure wrestling shows. But, Noelle's also a rookie decision maker, and giant WWE fan, so she's prone to marking out. You'll see Noelle on RAW or HEAT at least once a week. Heels take advantage of her good nature. If someone pushes Noelle too far, expect the glass to shatter and Uncle Steve will fix the problem.
- On NXT, we have co-General Managers, Ava Johnson & Molly Holly. Ava is a neutral GM and super competitive with Noelle. Molly Holly is there "to look out for The Rock's daughter", but really, Molly's a dirty heel GM that resents that women's wrestling is booming and she was born in the wrong era. Molly straight up has taken advantage of Mick Foley's rose-colored glasses of the Diva days and runs all over the show, she has annointed Tiffany Stratton as the Eternal NXT Women's Champion, and protects Tiff as if she were her own daughter. Molly is known to get in the ring, she might even compete for the title if pushed too far. If there's a questionable decision being made, Molly is usually the culprit. And if it's not Molly, the next person to point a finger at is her Executive Assistant, Double J, Jeff Jarrett.
- On SmackDown & Velocity, we have co-General Managers, the Bella Twins. Nikki and Brie are generally babyfaces, but they are also super petty, and not immune to nepotism. Don't put your car in Brie's reserved executive parking space. You will go one on one with The American Dragon. Nikki and Brie also have a special advisor who they call occasionally, SmackDown's greatest GM of all time, Teddy Long!
So, that's all of the background. Questions, comments, suggestions? I loooove suggestions. Next time I'll break down what's going on with each show, and then the SummerSlam card.

Have you been running that "alternate universe" for a long time? It appears very deep and fleshed out. I like how you've built the board of directors as a means of incorporating legends into your shows and how the way they officiate is very much driven by their unique personalities.

This is actually the second iteration. I started by downloading those dope modern Nitro and Thunder arenas and tried to do WWE vs TKO (NXT + ECW) vs WCW all as unique brands and it was just too much to have six independent brands. So this is version two where I took all the best ideas and fixed it up.

it's not lost on me that Cody got his big moment by doing a Super Finisher on Roman. Yeah but it actually worked while if you did that match in 2K24 Roman would have kicked out then Cody would have to stomp on him for a minute to get enough momentum to hit his signature and do one more standard Cross Rhodes to win.

NXT The Great American Bash July 4th Kia Center, Orlando, FloridaOpening BoutS-H-U-T U-P HA HA! J-E-F-F MatchDijak vs NXT Executive Assistant Jeff Jarrett Co-General Manager Molly Holly's Executive Assistant has been running amok in NXT, people are complaining, and Double J ain't listening. Well, Jeff Jarrett has now gotten so bad that someone has stepped up to put in his place. Dijak has seen enough, Jarrett will either learn to do things the NXT way, or be sent back to Nashville in a full body cast. Second BoutNXT Women's Championship Three Way DanceTiffany Stratton (c) vs Roxanne Perez vs Thea Hail Tiffany Stratton has it all, wealth, fame, and the NXT Women's Championship. Who could possibly want anything else? A good question, because both Roxanne Perez and Thea Hail want what she's got. Roxanne was named number one contender at the start of July, but Tiffany was distracted, too busy bullying Thea Hail for 'acting ridiculous' all the time. Co-GM Molly Holly has protected Tiffany's since she won the title from Gigi Dolin under suspicious circumstances, but now Molly is busy, and Tiffy has to stand up on her own as Molly's Co-GM Ava Johnson and The Commish, Mick Foley, added her bullying victim, Thea, to the Three Way Dance at The Bash! Third Bout Wrestling MatchEddie Kingston vs Drew Gulak Drew Gulak's been going on and on about what 'wrestling' is and what it means. Well, after months and months of lectures, someone's come to NXT to shut him up. Drew was in the middle of enlightening the NXT faithful when Eddie Kingston hopped the barricade, picked up Drew's PowerPoint Projector 2000 and threw it so hard the machine broke. Enraged Drew challenged Eddie to a wrestling contest. Eddie agreed, but we're finding it hard to believe Eddie isn't just gonna slap the taste out of Drew's mouth when the bell rings. Fourth BoutNXT Tag Team Championship Triple Threat Picnic Tables MatchMalik Blade & Edris Enofe vs The D'Angelo Family vs Chase U (c) What kind of Independence Day party would The Great American Bash be if no one brought the tables? Well the tag team division has you sorted, because Chase U are bringing the tables! Hopefully Edris Enofe and Malik Blade are hungry, because The D'Angelo Family are bringing pepperoni pizzas, and pain! Fifth BoutSwerve Strickland vs Tyler Breeze Welcome back boys! The Great American Bash heats up as Swerve and Tyler Breeze both return to their old stomping grounds. Neither man is dressed appropriately for the summer, but we have a feeling that's not going to stop them from going out there and attempting to steal the show! Swerve wants gold, and he plans to step on Breeze to declare himself the next man in line! Breeze is one of NXT's legendary perfomers in his own right, he may be pretty, but he's no punk! Sixth BoutTag Team MatchGallus (Mark & Joe Coffey) vs The Undisputed Era (Kyle O'Reilly & Bobby Fish) Kyle O'Reilly has the worst luck. He was tossed out of the North American Championship Battle Royal by Wolfgang, and jumped by Mark & Joe Coffey when he attempted to avenge his loss. Ganged up on by Gallus, Kyle was shockingly saved by Adam Cole, Roderick Strong and Bobby Fish. The Undisputed Era is back. Adam Cole has a match later tonight, and Roddy's watching his back. That's okay, because Kyle and Bobby are gonna shut these Gallus boys down. The Commish signed off, and it is on! Seventh BoutFeatured Match'Hangman' Adam Page vs Lexis King "No offense sir, I don't want to be the next Heartbreak Kid." "I've always wanted to be in the Hart Foundation." It's a summer blockbuster as Shawn Michaels and Bret Hart reignite their legendary feud to see which man has a better eye for talent. The Hitman was guest coaching with neice, Natalya, at the PC when HBK pitched an idea. Both men would select a representative for a match at The Great American Bash. Bret was intrigued, and on the spot, picked the son of his old buddy the Loose Cannon. Brian Pillman's boy, Lexis King is pumped to be cornered by the Hitman. Impressed, Shawn Michaels decided to steal the show, and chose his fighter, The Hangman, Adam Page. Page was less enthused, as he prefers to do things his own way, but how could he refuse The Heartbreak Kid? Old rivalries and new feuds kick off at The Great American Bash! Eighth BoutNorth American ChampionshipAdam Cole vs Oba Femi Who can take the North American Championship from Oba Femi? The man is unstoppable. Everyone who's tried, as failed. On NXT at the start of July, Oba Femi declared he would defend the title against anyone. NXT, RAW, SmackDown, Heat, Velocity, it doesn't matter! Oba Femi says he'll defend his title against anyone who calls themselves a wrestler! Well, he put the call out there, and the call was answered, BAY BAY! Adam Cole declared himself Oba Femi's opponent, and he will be taking back the title because he was it's Inaugural Champion! Cole says he won it once, he'll win it again. Oba Femi has never faced an opponent of this caliber. Will his reign continue? Ninth BoutNXT ChampionshipWheeler Yuta vs Ilja Dragunov (c) Oba Femi is not the only unstoppable Champion in NXT. No man has been able to take the NXT Championship from Ilja Dragunov. Dragunov demands more competition. Well, William Regal was happy to provide Ilja an opponent, Wheeler Yuta. Yuta has a special contract that allows him to travel from SmackDown to NXT. Ilja isn't impressed by Yuta, he claims the man arrived in WWE and skipped NXT because he's the water boy for a bunch of main eventers. Yuta intends to make Dragunov eat those words and be the first member of Blackpool Combat Club to bring in WWE gold. Main Event Bout'Future Endeavors' Ladder MatchGigi Dolin vs Molly Holly "I used to bleed black and gold. Now I have two words for ya, f*** NXT!" "Get comfy, because you're never leaving." Gigi Dolin has had enough. After finally capturing the NXT Women's Championship, Gigi was excited to carry the title and show the world that she is the best of the best. Unfortunately, Co-General Manager Molly Holly has other plans. In Molly's opinion, Gigi is a spoiled brat with a potty mouth who needs to learn her place. Handpicking Tiffany Stratton, Molly pushed her finger on the scale by officiating Tiffy and Gigi's NXT Championship Match. One blatant fast count later, and it was Tiffy Time. Gigi was furious, and when Molly refused to grant Gigi a rematch, Dolin went on a rampage. If Gigi can't have NXT, then NXT can't exist. Steel chair in hand, Gigi turned the Performance Center parking lot into a disaster zone, destroying property and superstars before she was arrested. The Commish told co-GM's Molly and Ava Johnson to fix this problem, because they wouldn't like the way he fixed it. Ava had no choice but to bail Gigi out of jail, while Molly and her Executive Assistant, Jeff Jarrett, negotiated to appease the disgruntled star. Gigi asked for her release, but Molly refused, Gigi has years on her contract! Double J came up with a banger, in his mind anyway. Gigi will compete with Molly at The Great American Bash in a Ladder Match! What will be hanging above the ring is what Gigi wants the most, her NXT release papers. If Gigi wins, she's free, but if Molly wins, Gigi will not only be forced to remain on NXT, but she will be ineligible for this year's WWE Draft. It's a match only a Jarrett could come up with, and it'll be settled at The Great American Bash! Questions, comments, suggestions! Lay 'em on me, I'm having a blast.

Yeah, the Fight Pit, Iron Survivor, I Quit, and the Heritage Cup are probably the big match types they should focus on adding next year. Are probably the most glaring omissions.
That said more than anything what I think most need work are Universe and Create an Arena. The latter in particular kind of just feels so archaic and limited at this point.

I wish Goldberg was in the game this year, so that I wouldn't have to waste a CAW slot on him.

WWE SummerSlam August 18th Aloha Stadium, Halawa, HawaiiOpening BoutWWE United States Championship Logan Paul (c) vs Bryan Danielson What started as a simple misunderstanding has snowballed into an avalanche for Logan Paul. On SmackDown, Logan parked his Mercedes Benz G550 4X4 in a reserved parking spot, not knowing, not caring that the spot actually was reserved for SmackDown Co-General Manager Brie Bella. Giving Logan the benefit of the doubt, Brie asked Logan to move, a request that Logan laughed at and refused. He also made the mistake of calling Brie 'babe', which drew ire from the GM. In what may have been considered a petty move, Brie then booked Logan in a United Championship match at SummerSlam, against her husband and member of the Blackpool Combat Club, Bryan Danielson! The American Dragon is looking to pick up a win to avenge Wheeler Yuta's loss at NXT's Great American Bash. Can Bryan be the man to take the United States Championship from Logan, regaining his very first WWE gold? Or will Bryan join the list of top WWE Superstars unable to beat The Maverick? Second BoutFeatured Match If Sheamus loses, he must join ImperiumThe Celtic Warrior has returned to WWE! Sheamus is ready to put on banger, after banger, after banger, after banger, all over again! Fifth BoutWWE Intercontinental ChampionshipDexter Lumis vs Karrion Kross (c) After weeks of alleged stalking, Intercontinental Champion Karrion Kross demanded to know what Dexter Lumis wanted from him. It all goes down in Hawaii at the Biggest Party of the Summer! Sixth BoutWWE Women's ChampionshipAsuka (c) vs Gigi Dolin After winning the Future Endeavors Ladder Match at NXT's Great American Bash, Gigi Dolin disappeared from WWE... for about three weeks before SmackDown Co-General Managers, The Bella Twins, announced their signing of Pro Wrestling's Hottest Free Agent! Damage CTRL interrupted The Bellabration to mock the GMs for making a big deal out of signing whichever Indy talent they picked up, callin it a waste of time. This turned out to be a critical mistake, as Nikki Bella announced that Damage CTRL would defend their WWE Women's Championship against Gigi Dolin in Hawaii for SummerSlam! Damage CTRL has been defending the Women's Championship under Damage CTRL Rules, a revison of the time honored Freebird Rule. Any member of Damage CTRL can defend the title and declared they would not tell Gigi Dolin who she would be challenging at SummerSlam, so Gigi picked for them. Kairi Sane was found unconscious and leaking face paint in the Women's Locker Room showers. Dakota Kai was tossed off the roof of a WWE production room through a spotlight! Seventh BoutFeatured MatchAJ Styles & Wade Barrett vs The Kelce Brothers Musical Megastar Taylor Swift will be at ringside! It all started with trash talk. AJ Styles was on After The Bell with Corey Graves when he said that he doesn't "get" Taylor Swift, his daughter's favorite musician. He went so far as to call it "worthless noise". Well, NFL star Travis Kelce took umbrage with The Phenomenal One's disparaging remarks regarding his girlfriend, and said that he would see him at SummerSlam! AJ was approached by Wade Barrett, who knows a thing or two about celebrities and SummerSlam. Together, the two challenged Travis to find himself a partner and have a tag team match at the Biggest Party of the Summer! Travis was all too happy to recruit his brother, Jason Kelece, who's no stranger to a WWE ring! As an added bonus, Taylor Swift will be accompanying the Kelces to the ring! It all goes down in Hawaii! Eighth BoutWorld Heavyweight ChampionshipDrew McIntyre vs Damian Priest (c) The Judgement Day and CM Punk are barred from ringsideIt has been a long road for DM Hunk. McIntyre has had it, and after petitioning Sheriff Stone Cold, the match was signed for SummerSlam. Judgement Day is barred from ringside, CM Punk is barred from the whole arena! Damian Priest has no one watching his back. It one on one at last at SummerSlam! Ninth BoutWomen's World ChampionshipTrish Stratus vs Rhea Ripley (c) If Trish loses, Rhea Ripley takes possession of her WWE Hall of Fame Ring What's SummerSlam without Legends!? Rhea Ripley of The Judgement Day claims she has beaten everyone in WWE and all that's left for her is to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame and she will retire as the Greatest Women's Wrestler of All Time. Her choice of opponent? Trish Stratus. Showing respect to the World Champ, Trish declined the match, saying she was satisfied with her career at this time. Rhea took offense, and started dogging Trish every single week on RAW. Trish continually ignored Rhea's challenges, that is until Rhea took a ride down to another Hall of Famer's home. Rhea brutalized Trish's best friend, Lita, in her own home! That was the straw that broke the camel's back and Trish accepted Rhea's challenge. Mami threw a curveball at Trish, deciding she was no longer interested in defending her title against Trish, unless Trish put her WWE Hall of Fame Ring on the line as well. Without hesitation, Trish agreed. Will Trish avenge her friend? Or will Mami's dominance remain unbeaten? It all goes down at Aloha Stadium! Main Event BoutUndisputed WWE ChampionshipRoman Reigns vs Cody Rhodes (c) "What I've learned is, my story never ends." "Your story sucks, I'mma burn down the whole library." After WrestleMania, Cody Rhodes has been on the run of his career. The American Nightmare has been unstoppable, he has not lost a match since Night One of WrestleMania 40. Cody declares that his story will never end. Perhaps The American Nightmare spoke too soon, because The Final Boss came to SmackDown in July and announced that Cody would defend the Undisputed WWE Championship against the man who he took it from, The Tribal Chief, Roman Reigns. Cody declared he did not mind in the slightest, the score between himself and Roman is unsettled at one win a piece. Roman is set to make his first live appearance since WrestleMania at SummerSlam. Wiseman, Paul Heyman claims that WWE's nightmare is over, because The Tribal Chief is coming to Hawaii to save WWE, and that's not a prediction, it's spoiler. It's Reigns vs Rhodes III at SummerSlam! This one was really fun to put together. Questions, comments, suggestions? Please share!
