Decided to let the AI do a 30 man gauntlet elminator between members of the nWo, Bullet Club, and DX. With CAWs I had enough to get me to 27 then filled the remaining three slots with the Shield. If anyone's curious on how that went, here are they are ordered by entrance, along with when eliminated and by who. ... I actually was going to include Kurt Angle with the Shield but then I remembered Rick Rude was technically in DX. Though I really should've left the Shield out anyway - I forgot Bischoff and Jay White and Randy Savage were left out due to a glitch when putting the list together that made me think they were in when they weren't. Assume the Shield jumped those three to get in.

Dean Douglas tripped Lorzeno and smashed the Chase University code of conduct book on his face while Andre Chase and Tony D'Angelo were arguing about the tag rope and a potentially improper tag. Unaware of the attack, Chase pinned Lorenzo. Hudson and Hail attempted to explain the situation to Chase as they went to the back, but Chase was too pleased with his victory to listen.

Cora Jade vs Shayna Baszler

A timely distraction by AJ Lee allowed Cora to roll Baszler up for a flash victory, leaving Baszler to go wild and attack the referee. In her rage, Shayna had to be dragged to the back by security.

Oba Femi (c) vs Jason Kelce

That no good, dirty rotten bastard Jason Kelce put on one hell of a performance, showing why he is considered one of the greatest Centers in NFL history when he out-powered Oba Femi and pinned him to the mat despite his immense strength. Kelce impressed the crowd by lifting up both Styles and Barrett on his shoulders to celebrate his title win.

Fight Pit

In a true show of poor sportsmanship, Jarrett kicked Gargano between the legs when Johnny had Jeff grappled from behind. Double J celebrated so long his theme song rolled over twice. Ciampa told Kelly Kincade that Jarrett better enjoy this victory while it lasts.

Natalya vs Tiffany Stratton

Tiffany Stratton retained after pinning Natalya in a strong performance for the younger superstar. Oddly, the lights went out while Stratton and Holly were celebrating in the ring. When they turned back on, both were unconscious. Because Stratton was knocked out, Tiffy Time 24/7 Rules were suspended until she left the building.

The Undisputed Era vs Alpha Academy & New Catch Republic

The Showcase Showdown was a chaotic tag brawl. In the end, O'Reilly pinned Otis after an impressive knockout blow.

Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn (c) vs Jacy Jayne & Sonya Deville

Jacy Jayne and Sonya Deville proved to be a powerful pairing. They picked Isla Dawn apart early, really setting Alba Fyre up to go down swinging alone. After Jayne pinned Fyre and the new WWE Women's Tag Team Champions left ringside, Alba screamed at Isla, leaving the fans feeling rather uncomfortable. It felt like the end of the team. Trick Williams finally showed the NXT Faithful that he was the top man on the black and gold brand. It came down to Williams and Dragunov as the rest of the Six Pack were incapacitated around ringside. A big exchange of blows had the fans on their feet when Williams managed to make his dreams come true after a massive knee to the already bloody, beaten champion. Heatwave went off the air as Trick held the title high above his head!

Thinking about setting up an Attitude / WCW file for Universe and just making me think of how I desperately wish someone could be assed to actually make a good Attitude Boss Man in one of these games instead of just throwing the outfit on the old school one because it never, ever looks even close to right.

Actually really wish they'd just stick that version in instead in general, probably way more people have nostalgia for that version.

Now that he's retired, would Sting want to work out a legends deal with WWE to be in games, if they were to do a mini showcase with him what matches would you put in?

Flair matches would be tricky given Flair's IRL stuff...the Starrcade Hogan match would have to be edited to make it fun...one Luger match could work.

Maybe I just wonder this to 1)Have non CAW Sting in the game 2)Do that Sting/Yokozuna feud I had the idea for a decade ago and 3)Potentially get the return of WCW entrance Vader like we had a few years ago.

I'm really wondering what even the point of making the Persona stuff actually unlockable is with how they seem to still be impossible to actually unlock over a month after release. The starting choices of, "Trick Williams from some random episode of NXT," and, "Shield Rollins when you already have 2015 Rollins and Roman's face theme anyway," are strange underwhelming ones to begin with but you'd think if they want people to bother grinding their stupid mode they'd actually make the things attainable.

They really want to force you to grind because there's a less than 2% chance of you getting a Oddities card for every pack you open.

The evening began with controversy, as WWE Undisputed Champion, Cody Rhodes attacked his challenger, Tama Tonga before the opening bout. SummerSlam ended on the image of Tama Tonga assaulting Cody's brother Dustin and kidnapping the Champion's dog Pharaoh. Cody took a measure of revenge, battling Tama Tonga out into the WWE Universe, as brother Dustin reclaimed Pharaoh and got the animal out of the situation. Due to Tama Tonga's initial actions, WWE will not be punishing Cody. However, an emergency Eight Man Battle Royal featuring top talent from SmackDown and RAW has been announced for later tonight to make good with our fans. The winner of the Battle Royal will face Cody for the title on SmackDown!

The Women's World Championship is on the line as the unstoppable Rhea Ripley faces The EST, Bianca Belair. At SummerSlam, Rhea Ripley defeated WWE Hall of Famer, Trish Stratus, and won the Legend's Hall of Fame ring in the process. Unimpressed by Rhea's behavior, The EST put Mami on blast, calling Ripley out and demanding that she return the ring to Trish. Rhea Ripley, always brimming with confidence, told Bianca she had no interest in just giving it back to Trish, and that she would give Belair an opportunity to win the ring, and most importantly, the Women's World Championship at Payback!

The LWO approached from ringside and Rey Mysterio confronted the three men. Mysterio was somewhat cryptic, telling AJ that he knew what The Phenomenal One was up to, that he had been there the last time 'something like this' was happening, and it did not work out so well. Unimpressed, AJ ignored Mysterio's warnings and said if he wanted to do something about it, the LWO could face them at Payback. Rey had only been trying to advise Styles to be careful, but it was not in Rey's nature to turn a challenge down. These six men will do battle in Toronto!

It was obvious that Logan would select the man who helped him keep his title at SummerSlam, Samoa Joe. The Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League Star has been named Logan Paul's wrestling coach, and intends to show his client exactly what he's made of. Bryan and Joe square off one more time, at Payback!

While WWE Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes has been understandably distracted by conflict with Tama Tonga and the Bloodline, Gigi Dolin has stepped up, put SmackDown on her back, and run with the brand! This has drawn the ire of Damage CTRL, who collectively held the title under Damage CTRL Rules (a singles version of the Freebird Rule, for those historically inclined). Gigi systematically took out each member of Damage CTRL in the weeks preceeding SummerSlam. Kairi Sane is on the shelf with an undisclosed injury and unclear recovery time, leaving the faction lacking one of their strongest weapons. Dakota Kai claims that Gigi intentionally injured Kairi, and that payback will be unleashed, well, at Payback. Dolin! Kai! Toronto! It all goes down when WWE arrives in Canada!

Damian Priest has been a bigger thorn in the side of Drew McIntyre than even CM Punk. The Scottish Psychopath keeps coming within inches of getting his hands back onto the World Heavyweight Championship, but Priest keeps yanking it away before McIntyre can reclaim his prize. On three different occasions in recent weeks, The Judgement Day have interfered in Drew's attempts to take the Big Gold Belt from Damian. After the third, WWE Board Member, Sting made an appearance on RAW, to announce that he had a solution, he was placing McIntyre and Priest on lockdown! It's a Steel Cage Match, at Payback!

I've been thinking of picking up 2k24 as I think the last one I bought was 2k17. However, the fact that a full price game is actively advertising premium currency worries me a bit. How bad is the pay 2 win or the grind? Am I gonna feel like I have to get their bs currency or can you enjoy the game as is?

The premium currency is only for use with MyFaction which there's virtually no reason to even bother with because the only unlockables tied to it so far are 1), 2009 Sheamus who you get for starting the mode, and 2), 2022 Trick Williams and Shield Seth Rollins who are both so rare that no one seems to have actually gotten them and even if you dropped hundreds of dollars on in-game currency you wouldn't be guaranteed to get them. Largely you can just play the game and completely ignore that mode.

Okay, that's good to hear. I don't have time to 100% anything. I just remember in 2k17 you unlocked moves via random cards so there was no guarantees and I was worried they had moved that to next level predatory monetizing. Maybe I'll see if i can catch it on sale.

Power beyond power, Kelce pinned Mysterio!

Three Way Dance

It was a rough night for Karrion Kross. Like Sheamus likes to say, this match was a banger, but perhaps not for The Celtic Warrior. Three men went to battle, but it was only The Nigerian Giant who was able to walk out on his own two feet. Imperium had to drag Sheamus up and practically carry him to the back, while Scarlett offered aid to Kross. All hail the new Intercontinental Champion, Omos!

Jacy Jayne & Sonya Deville (c) vs Candice LeRae & Indi Hartwell

Perhaps it should have been expected, but Jacy Jayne's debut as a RAW Superstar was full of controversy. While Sonya was the legal partner, Jayne engaged in a verbal argument with members of the WWE Universe. This led to Candice LeRae confronting Jacy at ringside, only for Jayne to throw the Poison Pixie over the barricade and into an unsuspecting arena working selling Cotton Candy. Some, less than honorable individuals had surrounded the merchant Superstar, trying to steal the cotton candy and preventing Candice from getting back to the ring as Sonya and Jayne double teamed Hartwell for an unethical, but legal victory.

Gigi Dolin has once again proven that Damage CTRL is not ready for Gigi. Each attempt Iyo Sky and Asuka made to interfere on behalf of Dakota Kai was scouted and countered. Like Gigi said on SmackDown, she learned to fight dirty from the best of them. Dakota did not heed Gigi's warning, and ate a Gigi Driver for it.

Steel Cage Match



Drew McIntyre was not going to be denied on this night. The Scottish Psychopath took all of his frustration and rage out on Damian Priest. The Archer of Infamy put up a valiant effort in the cage, and JD McDonagh even managed to get in by climbing the cage from the outside. McDonagh ate a Claymore for Damian and then Priest was finally taken down with a monster Future Shock DDT. Tonight, Drew McIntyre walks out of Payback as the World Heavyweight Champion!

I'd really love to know why on earth they decided that for the teams they couldn't be assed to create unique entrance animations for they just set them all to come out separately. It's a million times more awkward having Tony and Stacks come out back-to-back to the same music than it is to just have them using some other animation.

On the Monday Night RAW after Payback, AJ Styles unveiled the end result of his months of scouting, recruiting, wheeling and dealing. According to Styles, wrestling world was in desperate need of a symbol of excellence, the measuring stick to which all performers in this industry should be held up to. With the permission of the Hall of Fame incarnation of the faction, The Four Horsemen have been reforged for a new era.

AJ Styles, Wade Barrett, NXT North American Champion Jason Kelce have been traveling and competing together since SummerSlam, which left one final spot. The spot. AJ Styles detailed the long search. They asked Robert Roode to come out of retirement, he could not commit. Nick Aldis declined a return to competition at this time. Everyone the trio looked into either declined or failed to meet the Horsemen standard. That's when it became clear, there could not be a group of Horsemen without one person. No one ever said a Horseman had to be a man.

The fourth Horseman is Charlotte Flair!



The Queen gave closing remarks. Charlotte told the WWE Universe they heard the chants, they saw the fingers going up. Be careful what you wish for, because now, you have it.

Someone suggested Omos as his heavy...thankfully the Two Dudes With Attitudes entrance (complete with random ladder) is there.

(I love that we have Mania entrances that we never see in the actual mode, which are cool, but Lashley and current tag teams still don't have updated entrance animations).


EDIT: Not going to make a separate post for this, but my Mania 41 Main event ended up being a double-title HIAC match between WHC GUNTHER and IC Champ Dragunov. I made sure that lasted at least half an hour, and that they called him Ilja Two Belts. This eventually will be a way for Ilja to relinquish the IC belt, send it to Smackdown in its previous design, and hold a tournament for its next holder.
