So WWE is demanding that they put out a great game but is also pissed that they're delaying it. Because WWE.

No games really come out in March anymore, January and February are bigger release months, and they have a game to hype at WrestleMania as another sponsor. Axxess, if they have one, can have exclusive demos and the like before it comes out, they can make a massive thing from it. Game gets worked on more, they have a big thing to hype at WrestleMania. Win/Win.

2K is at like year 7 with WWE and WWE's bullshit is only getting worse so I can't imagine the pressure that puts on a game dev, in an industry that already has immense pressure on its workers.
I'm picturing the team crunching hardcore this summer to take out the Fiend from career mode and hastily replace him with Kane, then they get a call at 2am from WWE where it's like "Vince is pissed about bananas." "What?" "You gotta cut all yellow out of the game. Vince is mad about bananas." "...I...wh—" "Oh and Triple H did not approve the section of the story mode, you need to make the scene where he does the pointing photo shoot when the player character signs to NXT at least 17 minutes. And no bananas."

Yeah, I'm not sure we see a 2K23. Or if I'm honest, not 100% sure 2K22 gets released. That we're still doing the "only entrances and fancy camera angles" trailers shows it's not any different than before and the huge amount of the roster to remove is actually a monumental task, if only you think about how big this could mess with the MyCareer.

I feel no sympathy after they released 2K20 to the public in the shape they did.

I feel no sympathy after they released 2K20 to the public in the shape they did. I…really don’t see how you can’t, dude. Like, 2K decided to inexplicably drop Yukes as a partner for the games (right as the game series itself was celebrating an anniversary) basically having the developers scramble to get the game out and try to fix everything with months left before release and the fact it came out at all was a miracle but the fact WWE and the higher ups saw all this AND forced the game out regardless? Like, that’s incompetence on a high level. And yet, I still see assholes blame the developers for it when all they can do with barely any time is stick small plasters on the bottom of a leaking cruise ship and hoping that holds.

I don't sympathize with 2K as a publisher but I do sympathize with the developers. They were put in an impossible situation.

Win/Win. It comes back to WWE trying to sell stuff for the holidays. It's why those "best of the year" sets always stopped at October & they go full shill on TV. Not just due to Christmas but for that fourth fiscal quarter. Putting it in the first fiscal quarter means WWE will likely have to explain to their shareholders why numbers are down this year, which regardless of the fact that fans have been dying for a good game in forever and would probably be okay with waiting longer and prefer a more appropriate launch date, means little to them since it'll mean the company *lost* money. And when a company looks like it is losing money, people panic.

Even weirder, it’s a strange mashup attire of his most recent vest top but his 2003-2010 tights from when he was unmasked.

I don't sympathise with 2k mainly because WWE 2K18 is still on sale for full price in the Switch eshop and they never fixed any of the issues.
