... what era ended exactly in the End of an Era Triple H / Taker match? Because I love the match but I still have absolutely no idea.

Best guess I've got is the end of the era of Triple H being in Cell matches all the time but he hadn't been in one in a few years at that point anyway, I wouldn't rule another one out, and he was heavily involved in one since even if he didn't actually compete at it so... Yeah, I still don't know what era ended there.

Yeah I thought it was clear to everyone it was the ending to the HBK/Taker/HHH storyline that started at Wrestlemania 25 spreading across 4 Manias after.

That would require HHH to look past the altar of self-aggrandizement he's built up around DX in general and himself in particular as part of it. Remember, DX kickstarted the Attitude Era, DX were the focal point of it, and that god damn tank battalion he led to the Norfolk Scope killed WCW in a single night.

Yeah they said a few times it was the end of an era as in HHH saying guys from his era. So that wasn't "clear" they were talking about those matches.

And it was stupid at the time too. There are stil guys from that era. Including the two in that match. One was the WWE champ this year. Also I thought the match sucked so all around it was a waste of time for me. That little drama school performance was weak.

Originally, the match was streak (UT's) vs. career (HHH's). As the build-up progressed, they quietly dropped any mentions of HHH having to retire if he lost, but retained the "end of an era" hype buzzwords.

He'd stopped even before that, I believe. I think it was in 2010 when he got written out for months after the Sheamus feud.
