UC Davis hired former Boise State HC Dan Hawkins to serve in the same capacity.
Rice HC David Bailiff will return for the 2017 season.

One of the criteria of the committee is championships won. Ohio State isn't even in their conference title game. Are they one of the top 4 teams? Yes. Should they be in the CFP picture as of this moment? No. Why reward a team who didn't win their own conference championship? How does that make sense? It's setting a dangerous precedent. Do I need to remind everyone of Alabama 2011? That is apple's to olives. The BCS vs the CFP are just too different. But being fair then and now, rules state now that if a non conference champion is "unequivocally better" than a conference champ they get the bid. IMO 2007 Mich deserved to be in the BCS title game and Bama obviously deserved the 2011 shot. They beat the #1 team like they owed em.money

IMO 2007 Mich deserved to be in the BCS title game and Bama obviously deserved the 2011 shot. They beat the #1 team like they owed em.money 9-4 Michigan that lost to Appy State? Bama's 2011 win to date kills the argument of the "regular season is a playoff" and illegitimize the system. They didn't have to play Georgia for the SEC Title and was given time to prepare for LSU, a week's longer than LSU had. LSU also won the first game and didn't even need adjustments. Bama knew what they had to change, LSU had nothing to change and stuck by the strategy that won them the first game. Unfortunately it didn't work out for them because Bama made the change. LSU vs Okie State by the rules in place should have been for the Natty but the media and coaches poll saw to it that it didn't happen. The bullshit even ruined other bowls that season (see: Michigan/Va. Tech getting in the Sugar when both were ranked lower than other at larges and 11-1 Boise State getting saddled with 6-6 Arizona State).

SI's Pete Sampson reports Notre Dame will grant Malik Zaire his release tomorrow to seek a graduate transfer.
It's believed that Florida, Pittsburgh, Wisconsin and Michigan State are among the interested schools.

FOX Sports' Bruce Feldman reports that LSU DC Dave Aranda's three-year extension will make him the highest-paid coordinator in college football.

The gap between Western Michigan (17) and Navy (19) is getting smaller. Hoping Navy can still get that Cotton Bowl spot.

Depending on how things shake out, the committee appears set on putting two Big Ten teams (That aren't the conference champs) in the playoff. It's gonna be hard to tell folks winning the conference championship matters if two teams that won it aren't in the playoff.

Committee has a teleconference on it's calendar for Dec. 10 at 7 pm ET if Army-Navy game is needed to evaluate Group of Five bid.

It's gonna be hard to tell folks winning the conference championship matters if two teams that won it aren't in the playoff. If Colorado wins, Michigan will have beaten the winner of the B1G (destroyed PSU by 39 and outlasted Wisc. by 7) and the winner of the Pac12 by 20. We'll also have the same number of losses as them. Michigan will have a better resume than those two conference champs, so why shouldn't that be considered?

If they sneak two Big Ten teams in for the love of god they need to face each other in their semi-final game. Don't even give them the chance of an all-Big Ten National Championship game.
