Let me know when there's movie based on a video game that isn't terrible please Hey now, the first Mortal Kombat and Silent Hill were pretty good. Sadly those are the only two though. Maybe it's because I've never played the games to compare, but I didn't think the first Tomb Raider movie was bad at all either.

Not sure why they gave Fassbender real knives while he's in the animus.

I thought the Tomb Raider movies were good too, they somehow got a person who was perfect for the role and was "in" at the time (Or so I remember - but my memory is often foggy.). And the Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat movies are so memorable ... Heck, Mortal Kombat even got a semi-decent TV show (I only say Semi-decent cause I remember it being awesome in a UPNish kinda way at the time... I wonder how well or badly it has aged)! I don't know much about Assassin's Creed, never having played them, but a movie just about shadowy assassins seems like it would be A LOT easier to pull off than some of the games they try to morph into films.

I keep confusing this movie with Prince of Persia. Maybe similar box office as well?

Fassbender falls from a great height into a bale of hay, breaks his neck, credits roll.

Has a 17% on RT presently. I was expecting the movie to be bad, if only because Assassin's Creed is an utter mess of a story to begin with, but was figuring more in the 30-40% range.

Whenever the trailer comes on, it usually takes me a bit before I stop wondering if there's any particular reason why they are advertising a six year past movie. Then I see Fassbender pop up, and think, oh, it must be some special new dvd version of X-Men: Apocalypse. By the time "Assassin's Creed" flashes across the screen, my brain is stuck on "No way, that's obviously Prince of Persia featuring Magneto!"

You should take them with a grain of salt when they are in the 70-45 range since you only know if someone recommends it or not without any real context. If a film is sub 20% then none of the reviewers can recommend it and that means the movie was crap.

Which is ironic considering AC started out as a Prince of Persia game originally. It all comes full circle.

if only because Assassin's Creed is an utter mess of a story to begin with The fact that the movie is part of the games' canon rather than having its own self-contained universe isn't going to help that.

When it's that low I've never gone to a movie and come out thinking "well those scores were unfair."

Eh, I liked it.
It encapsulated the nature of the games in two hours and made it its own. Fassbender was awesome as usual.
Is it a bad thing that in certain sequences I wish I had a controller in my hands?
