It's December, and the latest Disneycember is on its way. This year Doug will look at all of the direct-to-video animated sequels. First up will be Return of Jafar...
Up later today.

I really liked those Aladdin sequels, and (to a lesser extent, especially since it aired opposite WB 'toons at the time, but still liked what I did see) the animated series, though......
Haven't aged horribly well, but they float near the top of that Disneysequel universe.
And for cripes sake, Disney, get something of that series on DVD please.

Maybe it's from being a big Simpsons mark, but I quite like Dan Castellaneta as the Genie. Yes he's not Robin Williams but it's still decent IMO.

He did very well, plus it was a Simpsons actor doing work in another series (which seemed rare at the time, and still kinda is). Heck, he did so well that I was sorta upset that they replaced him in the 3rd and final movie. .....sorta.

I think Dan did a fine enough job, and if there wasn't such a big name like Robin Williams before him as the Genie, I think he'd get more love for his work.

This vid just makes me wonder if Doug will talk about the original plans for Aladdin and the King of Thieves (which I do feel is better than Return of Jafar).

Kinda interesting that he's not going in release order of the films. Varies it up a bit.
Disappointed that he didn't mention the original story plan with Mozenrath, but he may not have seen enough of the Aladdin TV series or have done any research to get that in there. Que sera.

Not sure on that since King of thieves was apparently the second DTV sequel, just conveniently following Return of Jafar. If it is in order then next will either be Pooh's Grand Adventure or Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas

Really?
*Double checks.
Huh...for some reason I thought there were films between those two. I feel silly now.

I liked King of Thieves. The main villain was pretty badass (forgot his name).

Today's will be Belle's Magical World And thus Doug will begin to cover the true intention of most of the cheapquels. They were, for the most part, mostly scrapped TV shows. Similar cases are Cinderella II and Atlantis: Milo's Return

Belle's Magical World. I guess because Enchanted Christmas was covered before in Disneycember, this is the next one we go to
Tomorrow will be Pocahontas II (or Pooh's Grand Adventure if he didn't forget that one)

Oh boy, he did NOT like Belle's Enchanted World. Short run time (under 4 minutes?!) and complete disdain in his voice with no effort to hide it.
Damn.
