And it's bad. Just, really bad.
Smith and Depp's daughters have chemistry, but that's about all I can say for it. Just terrible stuff otherwise. Worse than I figured.
I'll still always like Kev's output up to and including Clerks 2. Since then though? Woof.

Big fan of Smith, but if not for the chemistry between the 2 girls that movie would've been unwatchable. He's having fun, and the movies don't lose money so I can't really fault him, but his last 2 movies have been really, really bad
EDIT: I mean I can't fault him for making these halfbaked ideas into full movies because there is clearly some sort of audience. There are definitely alot of flaws in the movie that you can fault him on

It may be the worst movie I watched this year. Just a really, really bad movie. The 'jokes' are awful and the acting is f***ing abysmal.
Outside of listening to Smodcast when Mosier is on, I think the last Kevin Smith movie I genuinely enjoyed was Clerks 2.

Pretty much all Smith's creative output since he became a stoner has been straight up garbage. Even SModcast got to be almost unlistenable with him giggling away in a weed haze at shit that is only amusing if you're high.
I suppose it's telling that despite being his best friend, Mosier hasn't been involved in a Smith movie since Zack & Miri Make a Porno.

I'm afraid to watch it. The trailer was just so bad I just can't even. Like dude seems to lost touch in writing comedy and is terrible at making absurd random comedy that isn't Jay and Silent Bob. Like I actually enjoyed Tusk but I enjoyed the actual horror parts of the movie but when it tries to be funny like Johnny Depp diner monologue scene, it's just so bad.

I will say Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back has not aged well.

I'm a big fan of old Kevin Smith, but I really don't like anything he's done lately.
I should clarify: I don't know if I don't like It because I have no intention of watching it.
As others have said, the weed has made him almost unapproachable for non-stoners. The podcasts aren't fun anymore. The movies look awful.
I'm still going to be on board for Clerks III, but other than that, I'm probably done with the guy, which is too bad because I really did like his earlier work.

I forgot to mention in my original post that the "Ralph Garman impression-palooza" scene may be one of the most cring-inducing, god awful things ever put to film.

Dude's getting paid to have fun, so I can't fault him. Besides, I'll always be a fan of Kevin Smith because of his positive attitude in general. I definitely still like the dude. Clerks, Mallrats, Dogma, and to a lesser extent Clerks 2 are still amongst my favourite movies, and Chasing Amy would be too if not for the bafflingly stupid third act and the fact that it reminds me a lot of my "one who go away" (coincidentally, also named Amy). His passion for nerdy stuff means I can still listen to Fatman on Batman (he's more tolerable when he has a subject stay on track with), and in the end it's kinda reassuring to know that had he not been a film maker he'd probably be posting on places like this board.

I still like him in other stuff. His directing work with the CW shows is good, and I like him on Comic Book Men. It's just he's gone from making legitimately good movies to just awful stuff. I get that he's just doin stuff to amuse himself with friends and family now, and that's fine, it just generally doesn't make for entertaining movies.
I ain't mad, just disappointed.

I kinda left with "Hope Harley and Depp's kid keep acting, they have potential maybe, but what the hell is happening with the rest of this"

The Clerks movies work because they are a personal time capsule for Kevin Smith. The first one was about his 20's. Second one is about his 30's. Third one should be about his 40's. I remember him proposing a mini series and that probably would not work. And that's another thing, ever since he got on the pot, none of his stuff has really heart or depth to them. Like Jay and Silent Bob is the exception to the rule but it's because it's Jay and Silent Bob and we already know everything about them already. It's just shit that only amuses him and his friends.

Just f***ing make Clerks 3 already before O'Halloran and Anderson are too old for it. It's not like they're playing superheroes. And besides, they're only in their early 40's.

Third one should be about his 40's. I remember him proposing a mini series and that probably would not work. The Mallrats sequel went from a being movie to a ten-episode miniseries, but even that has gone from "It's definitely happening, you guys!" to "We're currently pitching it to Netflix, Amazon, Showtime, and Hulu." Clerks 3 was supposed to be shot before Mallbrats, and then got pushed back until afterwards. I'm not holding my breath that it'll ever happen one way or another. Just f***ing make Clerks 3 already before O'Halloran and Anderson are too old for it. It's not like they're playing superheroes. And besides, they're only in their early 40's. Brian O'Halloran is always down for another, but Jeff Anderson makes no secret that he's not an actor and isn't rushing to take up the craft again, particularly as he gets older. Hell, even Trevor Fehrman hasn't acted since Clerks 2.
