Seriously? I was scrolling through my TVGuide app and it's nothing but random fairly recent movies and Ridiculousness over and over and over. Honest to God it's like it's on auto pilot. What are their ratings like? Are there actually teens and 20 somethings watching this?

Any young people who aren't online at the moment.
I know "internet killed the video star" is a popular saying, but it's true. In an era where people can watch any video any time they want, MTV is essentially obsolete. Artists don't even exclusively premiere their stuff for them anymore.

The same audience (12-19) ,with some 20-29 that hangs around for good measure thrown in, that they always have.

I would imagine a lot of their content is just stuff Viacom owns the cable rights to that is boughten for various channels.

I think it's equal parts "let's get the kids that aren't online" and "this is just the type of stuff Viacom puts on networks without a real focus".

Water dissolving, water removing, there is water at the bottom of the ocean. Under the water, carry the water at the bottom of the ocean but remove it, remove it...

Well most teenagers aren't really watching TV anymore.
So they are probably throwing shit at the wall and see if anything sticks.

VH1 seems to be following their path too. I've seen more movies, reality shows, etc instead of music videos from them as well.

We are getting some MTV spinoff channel that seems to show nothing but music videos. MTVClassic I think maybe.

I am 27 and I still watch The Challenge and the Real World (Still my favorite shows). Heck, I even watch Are You The One?
I am extremely disappointed in MTV. They don't promote any of these shows the right way and never reair them and instead air Ridicoulousness over and over.
The ratings for all shows are terrible. I think the only show that still cracks a million viewers is Teen Mom OG, it used to get millions more.
I doubt MTV exists in 2020. They will at least be re-branded by then.

Sounds like MTV is going the way of ESPN. I'll go several months at a time forgetting MTV even exists.

Heck, it's only been four months since MTV Classic launched and the channel is already straying from music. I took a look at the schedule for the next few days, and programming includes Stripes, Donnie Darko, Pimp My Ride, and The Real World. And for a channel that brands itself as "classic," it shows a lot of stuff from after 2010. At this point, MTV and VH1 are so similar that they should just merge into one network: CelebriTV.
