I listened to the Ted Dibiase one the other day, and I can totally understand why Ted felt like he wasn't where he should be a year-2 years into his run. This dude came out with a ton of hype, vignettes and the gimmick was unique yet he went from being in the main event scene to feuding with Snuka a year later. Bruce chalked it up to cooling him off, but it's such a dramatic drop off from where he was. The million dollar belt was just a prop to keep him afloat. I totally thought he should have won the belt and gotten a 6 month run with it. I get it, but what else is he supposed to do? He had worked a long program with Savage, a long house show program with Hogan, and had Andre the Giant and Bobby Heenan working for him for a year. Where could he go from there? The only major main event guy he could've worked with was Warrior, and he certainly wasn't going to win that feud. They put him in a slow burn feud with Jake that he basically wins, he works a House show program with Bossman, who was a star, and then works and wins a long feud with Dusty Rhodes. From 1987-1991, he's probably the strongest booked heel in the history of the company until 1999 Triple H.

Great episode as usual
Hulk Hogan broke his eye socket because the jetski hit his eye at 40 miles an hour brother!! Sigh typical hogan bullshit.
Also Bruce is so full of shit when he said this was a good show.

Adding Hogan allowed them to raise prices on the tickets that people already bought.
For a European tour Hogan had to headline as champion right after Mania.
Or not.

The number of ads is getting a little ridiculous. Inserted awkwardly in the middle of conversation, too. We are listening to it for free... they give us a weekly 2-3 hours of entertainment. I could see complaining if it was behind a paywall, but I can't complain for a free product.

The final 20 minutes are the best moments I've ever heard from a podcast. Bruce underneath it all is just a bullshit ass carny con man.

I would be interested to know exactly what happened with Hogan on that post-WM tour. The idea Bruce mentioned did happen but in the summer instead of spring and with Hogan challenging for the title rather than defending it. I wonder if Hogan backed out of the spring tour or if Vince just decided to have him work the summer tour for whatever reason.

To me if I'm listening to a 3 hour podcast what's 25 extra minutes. Conrad said something taht sounded like he had to cut it because the service they use couldn't fit the episode on the MLW thing. One of the bigger podcast hosting sites has a 3 hour limit on shows. Old cult film podcast I loved use to put out 9 hour long shows in 3 parts cause of the limit.

I'm waiting for the unironic 2 + hour long episode where Bruce talks about how Dave Meltzer was correct about everything regarding the wrestling business and WWF/WWE that was mentioned that week.

The Europe tour wasn't until August after Hogan dropped the belt back to Yoko right in the middle of Lex Luger's Lex Express push.

Hogan probably backed out of the tour and Vince realized he got conned There's that, but there's also the fact that ticket prices could have been raised well in advance if they knew Hogan was going to keep the strap. If that was the case, they are double dipping the fan bases into the inflated prices. The first wave will pay to see 1B Bret Hart, and then the next wave pays more to see 1A Hulk Hogan.

I usually throw Something to Wrestle With or the JCE on my smart tv to fall asleep, the Houston episode was last night. I didn't fall asleep for the entire episode and I give zero damns about Houston wrestling. The nephew should be drawn and quartered. My favorite part is Vince no selling and not going to the retirement party. There is also the loan of Bruce's that Vince took care of, it really shows what a standup guy Vince the person is.

I broke down and listened to the Houston wrestling one. Was fairly interesting. Then I heard about a half of the Royal Rumble 1997 episode before I tapped out. I couldn't deal with Bruce claiming "Bullshit!" on every other detail, yet can never correct the so-called wrong fact or figure.
(Don't know if it was corrected, but Conrad said Austin snuck in to eliminate Taker, Vader & Diesel before Bret to win. Bret eliminated Diesel while Austin tossed the others. Otherwise Diesel would have a gripe about being eliminated illegally also.)
