We lost the cable AND the internet last week. We couldn't pay the bills so it was turned off. For good. We're now on antenna TV and for the most part it sucks ass especially as a cartoon lover. Most of the programming on the non-classic rerun shows suck major balls. And it also sucks that I can't really communicate with you guys from my own home anymore. So no streaming, no cable, no F.A.N.
Overall, this just sucks, and I needed to rant about it. edit: Maybe I'm overreacting, but it still sucks.

It does suck. Years ago I moved back to my home town. I called to have cable/internet turned on but they said it would be a MONTH before they could come out and hook me up.
It was the most boring month of my life. At the time I was unemployed so I didn't have much money to do anything. I had a fairly small collection of DVDs and I watched them all. I even watched the extended editions of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy multiple times with various commentaries and the making of documentaries.

I had no cable for almost a year back in 1994-1995, so I can agree that it blows.
Coincidentally, it was the year I got the most exercise in my life.

But you can still watch Small Wonder on Antenna TV!

I cut the cord on cable a few years ago in favor of streaming services, but I can see if you're a cartoon lover how that might suck. And I need the internet to work, so I can't even imagine how much that would suck.

Aw, I'm so sorry!
Do you have access to public computers, like a library?

No cable - Eh, I can live with it. Sucks not being able to see the Hawks as much though.
No internet - Yeah, it sucks. Might help to finish my comic backlog though...

But you can still watch Small Wonder on Antenna TV! Unfortunately, I can't seem to get Antenna TV with my antenna no matter where I put it in the house. It also means no Johnny Carson. Like I said, the specialty rerun channels and PBS are nice. It's most of the other channels that stink. And yes, I do live near a library, but most of the time the computers are full.

My area had an Internet outage this morning, which made me realize how much I depend on it. I aimlessly channel-surfed while I waited for my modem's lights to come back on. Finally, I decided to go for a walk. No sense in sitting around, right? It's crazy to think that I went through the first 13 years or so of life just fine without it, and now we can take the Internet everywhere thanks to smart phones. I especially need it now that I cut the cable cord and stream everything.
I definitely don't miss cable. Comcast wants me to pay $7/month for channels I can get for free? F*** them.

When Hurricane Matthew came through South Carolina we lost power/internet that Saturday morning and didn't get it back until 10:30 that night. So, I can definitely feel the pain, especially with the no Internet. I couldn't charge my phone so I had to go to the Marriott hotel and charge my phone, use their Wi-Fi, which obviously was the only way to have access to the Internet until power was restored.
It's very interesting just how much our lifes depend on the Internet now. Whether it's for work, school, bills, or entertainment it's odd how some of us survived without it during the 80's and early 90's.

No cable and no internet makes Kev something something.
I actually haven't had cable for like five years now; but no internet would suck ass.

Last place I lived, Internet, no cable.
Now? Cable, no internet. I can easily say not having internet is worse.

You kids these days with all your fancy gizmos. Back in my day we had no television, no internet and had to walk 5 miles to school in a foot of snow.

Haven't had cable/DIsh in my room for years now. And don't miss it. The few shows I watch I can get with an antenna or watch on Hulu.
Right now the internet at my house is out,no clue why it's been out since I got home last night. But one of my neighbors has an open Wifi signal I can get on my pier.So sitting here enjoying a surprisingly warm night out on the pier.

It sucks having no internet, but it does make me do other things I don't usually do, like read or watch TV.

Just tell people you are living off the grid because you're cool and post-post-post modern.

I can do without TV, but not having internet today is @#$^#$^ up, and I have to live like that every time I go to visit my techno-phobic parents whose technological prowess pretty much begins and ends at changing channels on the idiot box (the TV).
I've been on welfare, and despite not getting enough money to afford decent food, everyone else who was in the BS 'job search' workshops were living in internet-equipped homes. Having no affordable option but to stay with my parents, I was literally living in more impoverished and outdated conditions than my peers.

Aw, I'm so sorry! Do you have access to public computers, like a library? Oh yes, we love hitting public libraries, which are open maybe 3 hours a day (weekdays only) and have a 15 minute computer / internet usage limit per visitor!
