Ideally the day after Christmas. As a kid (and still now as an adult) I feel it's too early to put it up anytime before December 1st.

Whenever the wife feels like taking it down, really. I don't mean this in a misogynistic way at all. We have an agreement that stems from 2 things - 1)My mom was HUGE into Christmas. 2-3 trees up every year, lights, Dept. 56 house displays...the works. Ever since she passed, I just want nothing to do with it. The only reason I celebrate it at all is out of habit and to see the look on my kids' faces when they get their presents. 2) Perhaps a bit of a contradiction to the above, but Christmas was always the one time each year my parents would FIGHT fight. My dad wasn't as into it as my mom, so they'd always go at it and it got worse as I got older. I can remember a couple of times my dad left for a while and, as a kid, it scared the shit out of me. So basically, my wife and I have an agreement that I won't argue with when or how she decorates, but I don't really have to participate. I'm the same way in regards to number 1. My mom was huge into Xmas and half my excitement of the season was to talk to her about what we were doing, how many Christmas movies we had watched up to that point, reminisce about old times, etc,.... since she passed, and my family has dwindled away... Christmas really has lost most of its meaning to me. If I didn't have my son, I probably wouldn't even celebrate... but I do so because I don't think it's fair to him to do away with the whole thing. But each year it gets harder... this year, I put up the tree but had to take a few hour break because i was getting angrier and angrier as I was setting it up. Nothing about this holiday will ever mean as much as it once did, which sucks. But still trying.... and now, while I'd love to pull the tree down the second Christmas ends.. it'll most likely happen on a day when I'm tired of looking at it and just grab the whole thing and toss it into a box. Whatever breaks, breaks.

I always take the tree and decorations down around lunch on Christmas Day.
