For starters, PSA: Marucan is so, so much better than Top Ramen. A friend left over some beef flavored Top Ramen, and it reeked when I cooked it. It just was absolutely disgusting. I've never had that issue with Maruchan.
Anyway, made the thread because I was curious if those who do eat it just eat it plain, or try to make it more interesting.
I can back up the whole "put a Kraft single in there" technique. You could use a different melting cheese, but it's reliable, cheap, and available. Melts evenly, and when I made it, it almost formed a cream sauce, mixing with the water and the starch of the noodles. I had it with Chicken flavor Maruchan, but I could see Shrimp or something working as well. Not sure on stronger flavors like Beef.
Simplest thing is just chopping up chicken, ham, beef, etc, that you cook and tossing them in. Obviously, you could put in some vegetables, too, or an egg, that's a popular addition.
How about you, FAN, got any ideas?

Top Ramen is ATROCIOUS. All Maruchan for me.
I usually drain the broth off to cut my sodium intake.

I like to put chili in it, then a bit of shredded cheese.
Edit - I'm curious if there are websites that carry more flavors than stores. I hate to say it, but when I was in jail the commissary had a flavor called something along the lines of Texas Beef or Texas Steak. Slightly spicy but not too much, but DAMN it was good, and I can't find it anywhere else.

Yeah Maruchan is better than the Nissin brand. I usually eat it plain.... though a couple times I let the water boil too long so the broth was more of a goopy sauce... it actually wasn't terrible

Forgot to say, but I usually drain some of the water, then add the flavoring, depending on how strong I want it to be, or if I am putting meat in. If I am, I leave more water since the meat will add flavor, anyhow, and I want the water to be hot enough to get more flavor out of the meat than if it was cooler.

Maruchan Chicken and Shin Ramyun Black are my favorite. I mostly just eat it as is, but i'll occasionally add an egg or meat. Sometimes i'll just eat it dry with some of the seasoning sprinkled on it.

Another unusual way of having your ramen, one which I've never tried, but could see potentially being interesting.

Drop a raw egg and it's good to go.
That said, I prefer instant yakisoba, the spicy kind.

Rule of thumb: I like to have enough free money to where I never have to eat any of that awful shit ever again.
Don't get me wrong: Were I literally in Japan, I would absolutely check out a legit noodle shop, However, I have no need of those packets that offer mainly a week and a half's worth of sodium content that slides right through you. You have to get creative to make ramen not maddening.

I usually add some shredded chicken, sliced chillies, and a dressing made of soy sauce, fish sauce, lime juice, garlic, and sesame oil.

I like to add some meat, chopped green onion, and habanero or ghost pepper. Occasionally I might add some mixed vegetables or spinach.
