The real tragedy to this is that TNA has a new sugar daddy putting money into the company, and even still they won't drop the 'TNA' letters. New investors, at the start of a new year, launching on a new platform, and everything could not be more perfect for them to just quietly drop those letters. But nope, they're still there. I know the letters are the least of their problems but they will never able to regain any credibility if they keep that name.

Damn, TNA even stole WWE's ability to promise one price point for their app in the U.K. only to reveal a new one a while later.
Except it was a couple of days instead of a couple of months.

98% of all TNA Network downloads will be from people thinking it's another porno app I'd rather be caught watching porn than TNA

Honestly, its about time. TNA utilized and embraced youtube and social media way before WWE did. Online content should be very important avenue for them, since most people cut cable and satellite a long time ago and haven't had access to destination america and now pop tv. I don't mind paying 4.99 a month instead of trying to hunt down the complete shows on YouTube. But TNA had a premium YouTube channel they never advertised. Dixie: "Advertise? What's that?" Executive: "You know, when you put the word out about your company and let people know what it is, what you offer, and where to get it. And we can let people know about events in their town." Dixie: "Okay, I got it, put up billboards in Stamford, Connecticut and Alderaan. That will do it."

So half the price of the WWE network and offering a millionth of the content. Hmmm I wonder which On Demand Wrestling service I'm going to choose! I'd be surprised if they get 1000 people to buy this.

I thought it was going to be £1.99? Dixie: "It was going to be £1:99, but then Parliament passed a law raising the price of wrestling apps" Parliament: "No we didn't"

Also, TNA is likely not touring the UK this year, so they don't even have that going.
Anthem just wants a cheap, no frilled source of new material. That's why they bought the company.

This wouldn't have been a bad idea back in 2010-2011 but as it stands the amount of subscription services out there will ensure that this makes no money at all except from absolute TNA diehards.
For the hardcore wrestling fan alone TNA is competing with:
- The WWE Network (Which is a little bit more but features every single major company and a lot of more minor ones as well with footage that spans about 50 years)
- The Highspots Network (Which is also around the ten dollar mark but includes a large majority of CZW, IWA-MS and PWG events with a large number of old school wrestling, shoot interviews, independent one off events etc etc)
- NJPW World (Don't know much about this one but it's quite popular)
- Independent Services (Tons of companies including CZW, ROH etc offer subscription services now as does plenty of companies in Japan and the UK)
And they're also competing with Netflix, Hulu, Cable Television, Xbox Live and all those other subscription services that are right around that 5-10 dollar mark for fans entertainment dollars. Most people are only going to pay for 1-3 of these services so TNA entering a market that is already hotly contested is dumb.
If it were me I'd dump all the footage to YouTube. Charge 0.99 a month and play one ad before each video and try to make money that way. Subscription services aren't feasible in 2016 unless you have access to tons of footage that people desperately want to see.

I like to think that TNA deciding not to tour over here is an act of kindness. I mean, they're now making us pay to watch their product on the app, it would be absolute evil to make us pay even more on top of that to watch their company in person. Maybe they have sympy for our current plight!

Not to be snide, but a good portion of TNA fans are the cheapskate variety. They don't want to buy merchandise; they want TNA to give it to them, they don't buy their PPV events; the pirate them, & the only way they spread the word of TNA is to bash WWE.
They would rather get a free trial & create dozens of accounts for said free trial every month.

In his shoot, AJ said that in the U.K., tna guys aren't in magazines covers that much because they don't sell that well, apparently tna and the wwe are in equal terms of popularity there, but the wwe is in cable and tna is in free tv, therefore wwe fans are willing to spend money, tna fans won't. In a botchamania, maffew made a great point when during a ppv Borash bragged about them being trending in the U.K. in twitter, and maffew pointed out that it was trending because in Europe tna ppvs could only be pirated, that people didn't bother to buy them.

As someone who has failed to take the hint from numerous women who were not interested in me, I admire Dixie Carter's stubborn refusal to know when to walk away from something.

If TNA can't get a new channel in the UK, then an app isn't a horrible idea...
...but charging that much for it is.
