Because I think anything from the first season gives the wrong impression of the show. It got so much better in season two and onward. Up until almost the end where it got a little too cartoony.

The Chinese Restaurant. Easily the first really GREAT episode of the show.

The Baldness Cure/The Mysterious Voice is one of my favorites.

George quits work and turns up like nothing happened. The story behind that episode is great, too, with Jason Alexander complaining that no one would ever do that. Larry David then told him it was based on something that actually happened, when Larry quit Saturday Night Live, then came in the next day without acknowledging it. In his case, I forget if it was allowed to blow over.

Another one I enjoy George eating from the trash but defends it because it was at the top and on a napkin.

Great question! I think season five has a lot of good episodes for this purpose; "The Cigar Store Indian" especially.

Larry and his friends had a contest to see who could hold out longest...! As for which one to show, if they're not offended then the above show would be a good place to start. However, as Seinfeld was at its peak - in my opinion - between series 4 and 6, any episode from here would do. I appreciate that it doesn't narrow it down much...!

I love the way all the plots from that episode come together.

The two parter "The Raincoats." it's hilarious and I could watch those episodes over and over. Everyone wanted The Executive after that episode.

I don't know now, since I got into it after it aired, but was aware of the premise. The one that got me hooked was the backward episode.
If it is someone who has no idea of what Seinfeld is, I don't remember the title but the one where Kramer babysits a kid while wearing tight pants is a good start.

I really think it's best to watch in order. They constantly reference past episodes.
If I had to pick one, The Race.
Kramer, as Santa, spouts Comminist propaganda, Elaine gets her boyfriend blacklisted from the Chinese restaurant, George gets sent to scout Cuba and Jerry chooses not to run!
