When episode 8 ends, and we see "dedicated to Carrie Fisher", it's gonna be overwhelming.

When episode 8 ends, and we see "dedicated to Carrie Fisher", it's gonna be overwhelming. They don't usually have them at the beginning of the credits. They usually don't appear until near the end of the credits. Like the one dedicated to Heath Ledger in The Dark Knight. But since she means a lot to this franchise they will probably but her dedication at the start.

On top of everything else, Ms. Fisher was also a rather prevalent script doctor for Hollywood in the 90's.
Attempting to fix a multitude of scripts uncredited and she only stopped because studios suddenly thought that it was something she should be doing for free.

Think of this... next Star Wars will say In Memory of Kenny Baker and Carrie Fisher. Losing both Artoo and Leia in one year.
Red Leader and Ackbar too, but we want to get to the movie, not relive 2016.
Seriously, Star Wars has never memorialized before, not even Peter Cushing and Sir Alec and they died before the prequels. I suspect it'll be in the end credits, not before the movie.

For those interested, cracked.com put an article up yesterday detailing all the work she did with scripts over the years. It's pretty incredible.

You know, taking Carrie's life in sum - the acting, the writing, the family, the bipolar, all of it - Prince's lyrics will not leave my mind.
Dearly beloved, we are gathered together here today to get through this thing called life An electric word, life, that means forever and that's a mighty long time But I'm here to tell you, there's something else. The afterworld.
A world of never ending happiness You can always see the sun, day or night. So when you call up that shrink in Beverly Hills You know the one, Dr. Everything Will Be Alright Instead of asking him how much of your time is left Ask him how much of your mind, baby Because in this life, things are much harder than in the afterworld This life, you're on your own
And when the elevator tries to bring you down... go crazy.

Maybe they'll just have Leia be more behind the scenes in IX (the character's essence of course). I know it's 2 movies and many years away, but would we be ready to see her be killed off on screen? TDK was lucky they had Batman vs. Joker not end like the '89 movie, I'd imagine that would be eerie too.

I don't think Steve Martin meant anything wrong there, but it is a little disturbing to me the amount of "Rip, I have nothing to add except she was hot" comments I've been reading.

We headed out yesterday to see Rogue One in IMAX. I found out about her passing while waiting on my significant other to get out of a store. I was shocked at how much it bothered me. When a celebrity passes, (to me) it's always a bummer if you liked them, but it just sorta passes and that's that. Carrie Fisher's death hasn't been like that at all for me. {Spoiler}The end of Rogue One was rough to watch yesterday. It was hard not to bawl like a baby. If you love Star Wars, she was your princess. If you've battled addiction or have to deal with mental illness, she was an inspiration. Carrie Fisher was simply a bad-ass and the world is worse off for not having her in it.

What exactly is offensive about this? Apparently a man can no longer make a comment about there being much more to a woman than just her appearance? Or at least he must do so without mentioning her appearance? I'm usually the first in line to take a stand against the "PC ruins everything" brigade, but in this case people really have gone out of their way to find something offensive.

It never ceases to depress me to know that Twitter is taken so seriously, and the crazy thing about this Tweet for me is that Leia was seen as a sexy character. I mean, good lord, ask anyone who they were attracted to in the 80s and early 90s and you'll probably hear a lot of "Princess Leia, especially in the slave outfit".

I'm pretty sure it's over him referring to Fisher as a "creature". I get that he didn't mean anything wrong by it, but it's a bad and kinda weird choice of words during a time when many of her fans are in mourning. I don't think people are "going out of their way" to be angry. That is a really clumsy tweet. I wouldn't have left it up either.

The use of the word creature to describe an attractive person of any gender goes back centuries, and sure, it's become corny and perhaps a little clumsy, but he clearly wasn't objectifying her in any way.
