Unlike a few people that are in this thread I'm sure, I am not a lifelong Star Wars fan. Hell, I just recently got around to watching the original trilogy. But I know that the nerd culture just suffered a massive gut punch today. Rest in peace, Princess. I was never big into the movies but I knew who she was. A big part of peoples lives are def hurt today due to her passing

Such an inspirational person. To women, about mental health, addiction, etc. This is absolutely devastating.

This is devestating. I feels strange {Spoiler}{Spoiler}{Spoiler}that we just saw her in Rogue One and she is gone not long after. Her last role I think will be in Episode 8. I'm pretty filming was complete for that. I'm curious how this affects Episode 9. We don't know if she dies in 8, or if we end on a cliffhanger with her or something. Some stuff might need to be reworked because of this. Also, please end 2016.

This really sucks. Nothing more profound to add, just, really sucks.
I am glad she got to go out after making a comeback. She left the world on a high note.

She was a firecracker, just like Leia.
One of the strongest, most inspiring female characters ever for me. She was headstrong and determined, and a leader too.
I loved seeing her in the new movie. She slipped back into that character with the greatest of ease.
Amazing woman. She'll be greatly missed.

I'm the biggest Star Wars fan and I could not give less of a shit about it right now. I'm wrecked. Haven't been this bad since Eddie Guerrero died.
f*** man, here's to Carrie. I don't want to dwell in sorrow so again, she was such a strong beautiful woman.

They might go the Paul Walker route and have her character re-written and finsihed off in some fashion assuming she finished all her scenes in episode 8. If anything if she did finish her scenes in Episode 8 we can assume they will dedicate the movie in her memory and figure out a way to peacefully write off her character for Episode 9.

My inner child is devastated. She was my first crush. I grew up on Star Wars. That original cast had a huge impact on my childhood. That's the fan in me talking.
I feel terrible for her family. Especially for her daughter. Losing a parent is really hard. RIP Carrie Fisher.

Damn... being a fan of the originals this is a hard hit.
Knowing the troubles she has lived through, with her issues with mental illness and addiction... her struggle has helped many more seek help.
Rest in peace, ma'am.

I am not much of a Star Wars fan but this one is really sad. Was a huge fan of Carrie the writer and even more liked her as a mental health advocate and all around speaker, person and media presence.

I honestly thought she'd pull through....another icon gone.
Thankfully, so to will be 2016. As for you, 2017, don't even DREAM about imitating your predecessor. You've been warned.
