When I was kid I used to do it all the time. My Grandfather would leave a couple of dollars out on the plate for me. Really don't remember how old I was when I found out the truth about Santa

Of course! My parents ate them after I went to bed and claimed Santa did it.

Yup, every year without fail. My mom would even do something similar around Easter and have me leave out carrots and water for the Easter Bunny. She'd even leave nibble marks on the carrots to make it look as though a real rabbit had eaten them.

Yeah, they left crumbs.
And by the end, I knew Santa wasn't real but I still did it, because it made my parents happy.

Tamales and a shot of brandy was what I used to leave out...that explains why my dad had some nasty breath on Christmas morning....

Absolutely I did every single year. My Dad kinda gave it away with Santa when he told me to leave out Diet Coke instead of milk (Diet Coke was his favorite drink lol).

Did that as tradition until our beagle got a hold of them- a dozen gingerbread cookies, and not so much as a stomachache or indigestion. I sometimes hate my hound's natural ability to eat everything.

yep. My Grandfather used to live in the Artic in the 50s. He told me that he met Santa when he was there and every year my Grandfather would contact him on his Ham Radio and he'd thank me for the cookies I left.
