Good men quietly do good; self centered egomaniacs never start touting how "good" they are and somehow always steal or equal the spotlight of whomever they were doing "good" for.... Back up..... Where does it say DDP is spouting about how he is reaching out to Vader. Vader let the details be known DDP reaching out to him. I don't see anywhere it saying that page was going to save his life. He wants to help out a man like he's done countless others whether people know about it or not. & second off who cares even if he did promote who he's helping. DDP Yoga is a brand that came from his ambition. He's doing good whether you see it or not. oh he WILL make it all about himself; he ALWAYS has. DDMe would be a more accurate moniker... I'm all for people doing good but have far more respect for those who selflessly do good than those who make it all about themselves. Almost no one knows this but during his playing career, no player donated more of his time to charitable causes than Barry Bonds. Why is this secret so well kept? Because Barry wouldn't allow it to be publicized. The player who the media hated most and presented as a bad guy was/is actually one of the nicest and best people around. Did you know that from the 1970's until his death that whenever a NYC police officer or fireman was killed in the line of duty, George Steinbrenner paid the college tuition for each of their children? Probably not because the man the media vilified as an awful person refused to allow this to be known while he was alive. Vilified by the media but a very selfless person who took care of countless people. But hey, those men cared more about doing what's right than tooting their own horn.... And FYI, DDP Yoga is NOT an original concept; the same concept was around for decades before DDMe claimed to invent it.

DDP would be a pretty damn poor businessman if he didn't promote it the best way he can, by showing the success stories. However, being a smart businessman and genuinely caring about people and wanting to improve their lives are not mutually exclusive concepts.

I'm getting really sick of this contrarian 'I don't like this guy everyone else does who's doing good things' crap.

Apparently Dallas Page is a heart surgeon/can cure heart failure... Who knew? I mean, Vader still has a few years at most because of that heart condition but dropping a bunch of it will probably reduce the amount of stress on his heart.

And Steve Buscemi worked as a firefighter after 9/11, other people doing good deeds under the radar doesn't change the fact that DDP has been doing good things to help others. He's done more to help guys like Hall and Roberts than the WWE or their other friends in wrestling have so yes, he deserves praise for that. If you want to get on someone for exploiting good deeds for self aggrandisement and for other more sinister motives, look at the WWE's legends deal and rehab offers, which are purely done for PR and to get people at low points in their lives to sign away various legal rights so they'll have a harder time suing like they did to Henry O'Godwinn. DDP did not invent yoga, he didn't invent adding other exercises to yoga routines either but then, 99% of products sold in stores, most movies, novels, songs, they're not original concepts, they're an existing product that has been packaged in a way that makes them more appealing or someone involved has added some of their own twist and a dash of personal experience to it to make it more accessible or enjoyable.

He's done more to help guys like Hall and Roberts than the WWE or their other friends in wrestling have What has he really done for them though? They aren't as fat as they used to be, but we constantly hear reports of them getting shitfaced and creating scenes at airports, bars, and independent shows. What's changed? It seems like was yet another free rehab stint that didn't stick for those two. The only difference is everyone got to make money off of this one. Really all they did was bunk with each other for a few months while DDP taught them basic calisthenics, shot a manipulative documentary, hawked old Yoga for Regular Guys DVDs, and promoted their GoFundMe campaigns. If Page really wanted to help Hall and Roberts he'd get them away from wrestling and get them into 9 to 5 jobs at a Costco. That would surely cure their addiction problems.

Sounds like a few people that personally dislike DDP for some reason. Same goes for Hall and Jake. It's like people seem to dislike them rather than the disease.
I only recall one instance of Jake going off the wagon and two with Scott Hall. As someone who worked many years with those with addiction to drugs, pain killers and alcohol, I have followed their stories and other DDPY stories for several years. I think their lives in the last few years have improved vastly. And again, as someone whose worked at trying to help the addicts, the yoga program has had (from what I've read) far more progress than any treatment programs that I've seen or been involved with, with the addicts.
Aside from the wrestlers themselves, just look at the regular people who have had success. They are overweight people with absolutely no hope BUT they are wrestling fans and so they turn to wrestling (in some way) to fix their lives and IT WORKS.
Here's hoping good things for Vader.

They are overweight people with absolutely no hope BUT they are wrestling fans and so they turn to wrestling (in some way) to fix their lives and IT WORKS. And that's the crux of it. DDP Yoga has helped more people than just the handful of people DDP has personally reached out to. How has it done that? Because DDP shilled the shit out of it, and put out a "manipulative" documentary which will reach and inspire more people to change their lives for the better than any number of personal testimonies listed on DDPYoga.com. If Page really wanted to help Hall and Roberts he'd get them away from wrestling and get them into 9 to 5 jobs at a Costco. That would surely cure their addiction problems. Costco employ 117,000 people. Do you really think none of them have addiction problems? Addiction affects people from all walks of life, and guys like Jake and Hall will always be one step away from relapse. That's just how it works.

I don't think you can really belittle the efforts of a person because of the results. I mean, if you donated a million dollars to fight homeless today and tomorrow there's still tons of people homeless, did you really fail? You can't discredit DDP's effort because people relapse, especially a life-long addict like Jake. Him relapsing doesn't mean DDP failed. It means DDP isn't a goddamn magician.

If more people "selfishly" devoted their time and money into things like helping addicts get clean and get their lives a bit more together, I would be okay with that kind of selfishness. I hate this bullshit logic of "if you do good things to feel good about it you're a bad person" because it almost always comes from people who are doing no such thing themselves but want to tear down the good that other people are doing out of some kind of bizarre, misplaced resentment.

I'm sorry, but this demonstrates a really jarring lack of understanding of what addiction is and how it works, and I encourage you to please learn more about it before making more comments in this vein.

Both were in far worse places when DDP intervened, people were sure both would be dead within a year or two, but alcoholism is something that they will battle with until the day they die because it's something you're never cured of. Temptation will be there wherever they are in life, in Costco they'll be surrounded by co-workers who drink recreationally and view one drink as something that can't possibly do them any harm, same as wrestling. What DDP did was get them away from drugs and alcohol for a time, helped them to get into shape, get surgery to deal with some of their long term injuries to give them one less form of pain they have to drink to dull and showed that there are people out there that care whether they live or die, their fans. DDP can't perform miracles, but at least he put himself out there and tried to help, it's more than the other people in their lives have done, if there were more like him and less like the HonkyTonk Man (Who tried to knock Roberts off the wagon and trademark his name out from under him), wrestling and the world would be a better place.

I met Jake and Razor last month at an autograph show and their bodies look amazing. Hall always looked in shape but much healthier in body now. Jake had truly been a mess 5-10 years ago physically and mentally. He slimmed down a lot and really seemed to be in great spirits. From working with addicts, as I mentioned, these guys are in a lot better situations than the local addicts in my area.
Also, as someone who followed DDPY, it really wasn't so much the documentary that had people flocking to the program. It is other people who show their results, through photo or video, on the website or facebook page, that brings interest in new people trying it. I really don't DDP being "in your face" about it either. His facebook page is mostly pictures of he and his wife out for date nights, not so much about the yoga. The yoga company facebook page doesn't see him posting too much (he "likes" pictures, shares etc...). It is mostly the people who have done (or are interested in doing) the exercises.
Wrestlers are LUCKY he is taking interest in helping them. Not like so many other wrestlers who ARE looking for a pay day from whoever will pay them for the latest shoot interview.

Plus it's been mentioned already - Vader was the one who said DDP reached out to him. DDP didn't say anything. If Vader hadn't said anything, would we have known he was going to Atlanta to work with DDP?
