I'm not going to shit on Punk for doing the fight. He got paid quite a lot of money to cross something off his bucket list. If I was going to shit on anyone for that whole situation, it'd be Dana. He paid for a freak show and got that, yet tried to act above it and distance himself from it when Punk lost. The dude has no integrity to speak of.

I just take issue with him being handed a high profile spot on the card while passing over others when that was one of the larger contributing factors into him leaving the WWE

Well, at least Punk took a chance with his life and went out and did something outside of his comfort zone, rather than being given a series of jobs he's blatantly unqualified for within his daddy's company and leading them into a decade and a half long period of creative stagnation. Him being on a UFC card is the definition of him being given a job he's blatantly unqualified for. He'd have been stupid not to take their money, but your analogy falls apart like tissue paper in the rain given that's EXACTLY what he did. Dana is his friend and not his daddy, but otherwise, same deal.

What gets me is that Punk has never put the WWE on blast. Isn't he suing them?

That was savage, but I'm not surprised because Steph's always had a little savage in her.

He also gave several interviews last year jumping on the whole "WWE is fake and lame, now I'm doing the real cool sport" train. And ironically, he keeps pimping t-shirts on prowrestlingtees.com, which is just....the cognitive dissonance there is actually impressive.

She wanted to see if they could chant longer than Punk lasted in his first UFC fight. That is great, I don't know how I didn't get it immediately (I'll just blame me being sick)

Steph absolutely roasted Chicago and stopped the chants cold So it made it even funnier when Roman came out minutes later and ignited them up again I'd have loved it if they'd let Roman be the one who said it.

Too be fair, Punk is WAY TOO Machiavellian to ever consider Dana a friend. He'll give an interview 3 years from now laughing his ass off about how he swindled Dana out of Millions of Dollars (PTP .gif).

People counter people who aren't Punk fans with "Well, he made more money than you ever will, and he'll cry his tears on his piles of money!" Well, why should I care about that? There's nothing that I could have possibly done in my life that would change the amount of money that Punk made. So, I'm not jealous, I'm not envious, I'm not bitter. Nothing in my life would have changed either situation. Good for him. I'm still gonna smirk at Steph shitting on the Chicago Crowd. But that's on the crowd, not on Punk. Enjoy your money, and Enjoy AJ. It don't affect me none. Just stay out of my life.

Punk gonna be mopping up his tears with his millions and millions and millions of dollars Those millions of dollas /CrymeTyme won't stop Punk from crying in the night about how everyone knows he can't go in the octagon like a real man, and even Stephanie McMahon is able to bazinga Punk and he can't say a damn word of defense about it. Mr. Pipebomb has been defused

WWE knew the first person out would get those chants. The moment had been prepared for.
... Why'd they give the line to Steph? Give it to Roman. Or Owens. Or Jericho. Or Ru-Ru. What benefit does STEPH get?
And, again, I love me some CM Punk. But he's the new Bret Hart in many respects. If you're gonna slag him off, have somebody benefit from it.

Good line, though yeah, might've been nice to let a wrestler get some heat with it. That's one of Stephanie's long term problems: she pretty clearly loves getting a lot of attention (and in the wrestling industry, who doesn't?), but she's a character who will next to never receive anything in the form of karmic retribution for the crowd to cheer. In much the same way that Triple H spent years having to be the strongest, coolest, funniest-yet-toughest-yet-most-cerebral character in the room at all times, Stephanie takes on much the same overtone, but at least Trips would occasionally get beaten down by an avenging babyface or at least shown up in a non-physical way every now and again. Stephanie can work a WWE crowd better than a lot of other people in that company, but there's no real money in her being able to do it, as there's no payoff, neither financial nor emotional, to her doing so.
That all said, I think some folks almost seem to have a complex about Punk, whether it's building him up or, in a ton of cases over the past few years, really wanting to see him torn down. It's kind of weird.

Only Stephanie could really get away with that line. Someone like Roman said it, it would be highly criticized because he is not at the same level as Punk. Don't believe me, look how people reacted to Cena calling out the Rock and Punk doing the same. Cena was treated more harshly because how dare he insult him. It would had been double worst if Roman made that crack about Punk's MMA fight. That wouldn't made ESPN or Sports Illustrated because too many would be ripping Reigns a new asshole for daring to say that.
