Just make an obnoxious hipster heel. On purpose of course. TJP just needs a better hook than "I was homeless and play video games". Go all out and make him a meme loving, elitist video game playing, video pretentious music snob. Be like Mauro and drop pop culture references during moments it is not needed. Constantly say his opponents are inferior because they don't know puroresu and lucha libre. Claim he only do 5 star performances. But if they are going to keep him as a face, let him not speak in geek speak. TJP isn't exactly a strong talker but doing gamer cliches is killing him, Smalls. This. Man, WWE would be so good if someone in-tune with culture was in charge.

Man, I was one of those people that said he should've been a cocky prick ages ago. But you know the heel gimmick you're giving him is almost like an elitist nerd who's as much of a bully as those jocks that theoretically would've kicked his ass in all those 80's movies? You know how topical that gimmick would be? Dude, they'd never think to give that to him. Especially since that'd be a bit of a criticism of geek culture in general and people get all up in their feelings when you dare raise a word about that.

The second he walks out and does that f***ing dab in those glasses it makes me want to see him get beaten up.

Really, the biggest failing with TJP is... The guy comes off like a massive tool. Which is good for a heel, he's good at channeling that into being an obnoxious prick, but as a face he has this persistent, "Why would anyone root for this guy?" hanging over him. That's how I always felt he would excel. He was great as the cocky prick in Evolve.

I rooted for the guy big time in the CWC, but this current persona and his real life persona are perfect for an obnoxious heel run. The guy's opinions on Star Wars alone could make him the biggest heel in the business.
Seriously who hates Luke, Obi-Wan, and Rey, and names Anakin as their favorite character?!

Even if they gave him the most awesome makeover since Johnny Polo turned into Raven, the division itself would still be lame as all get-out. As others have stated, the only difference between the cruiserweight and main event matches is 15% more kicks in the former.

Regarding Perkins...I mean the dude was Manik in TNA. It's not like he was any great shakes and it's baffling to me that WWE booked him to win the CWC. That will probably end up being his career highlight.
Let's say WWE did give him this hipster gamer gimmick. How is that going to actual draw heat?

I never saw him in TNA, and from the first moment I saw him in the CWC I thought this. Despite his real life story, his character is a total tool, not a plucky underdog. And the division has enough faces. Give us some more heels. He would be easy to hate. Turn the video game thing up from 11 to 18 and he could be that asshole that everyone knew at school who said he'd seen secret levels in games that don't really exist.

1. For anyone saying that he was better off masked I want to assume you're secretly attracted to him, but I'll point out that you're supporting something TNA did. A very stupid decision that TNA did. To take a hot as hell guy with a great body and cover him from head to toe. Imagine if Becky Lynch wrestled as La Luchadora all the time in TNA. There'd be thread after thread at how she was wasted and her hotness was wasted and how stupid TNA was. Same thing with Perkins. 2. Vince. The man ruins everything he touches. He's a reverse Midas. 3. TJP I'm guessing knows how lame it is, and how stupid he sounds. But the dude is getting to live his dream, and if you're given a shot you're going to do and say whatever they tell you to, and come out to whatever crappy ill-fitting career killing music they give you. 4. Check out his work in Evolve, dude was killing it as a heel. Even if the CW's aren't booked or written well (see #2) you can at least play to someone's strengths. TJP is a natural cocky douchebag heel. He execls at it. Let him play to that, his promos would sound more natural and for f***s sake give him better music. And: Just make an obnoxious hipster heel. This is f***ing brilliant. Perkins would OWN this character. It'd be different and he could easily transition to regular roster with this if the CW experiment fails, and it will under #2, but it won't be his fault b/c nothing ever is.

TJP is fine, I think a lot of the IWC has an unhealthy hatred of faces when CLEARLY the crowds have been and still are chanting "T-J-P" everytime he's got a match.
He's very far away from the "Die, Rocky, Die!" chants of a failed face, and nowhere near the implosive nega-heat that Roman Reigns gets, or even the backwards face pops that Cena got for his SDLive appearance tonight.
TJP and his dabs will do just fine, and personally the Mega Man tribute in his intro needs to not be touched. Currently my favorite entrance on all of RAW, and damn everyone in this thread who talked trash about it you unclean heathens.

He should just drop the Dab-it's going to go the way of the Harlem Shake.
Say what you will about the video game reference, he's currently got the best Tron in WWE (and Swann has the best music-if the iphone wasn't such a pain in the ass to create new ringtones, I'd have this right now).
