People need to understand that after Dave's experience after returning back to WWE, he is back to being sour about the wrestling business again. Don't blame him. WWE managment promised him the main event at Wrestlemania and a WWE world title run to get him to return. What he got was rejection from the fans because he wasn't Daniel Bryan and his promises broken. He had the wrestling bug again and it got killed once more. It also don't help how WWE treats his boy, Titus, and he is a legitimate movie star and don't need to return back to the circus.

I don't know how much of that is true as he flat out told them that he would be booed by the audience on his return. I also think he knew before mania that Bryan was the right choice. Though yeah he really doesn't hold the WWE management in high regard, I think it's more due to them being stupid than just "I didn't get a title reign".

He wasn't expecting a hero's welcome but he didn't think he would be treated as a 3rd wheel in the Mania main event and later the Washington Generals to the Shield as a member of Legacy. As soon his contract was about up, he was out.

I think the jist was they didnt think Guardians would be a hit...which...well...was way off. It's a legitimate dream match now. That would bring in a lot of Mainstream attention. Hollywood Vs Hollywood. Marvels "Drax" Dave Batista vs The Rock. I think the smarks would side with Dave and the marks would side with The Rock.

Well not the hit that The Three Stooges was, which they had zero problem promoting.

I'd agree, given the story about him wanting to promote Guardians of the Galaxy and them allegedly thinking it wouldn't be huge. Basically, guy comes in, is a top guy for them, leaves to do movies and, comparatively becomes a big movie deal in a short period of time, and comes back. At that point he wants to promote his big release and they shrug that off, so if I'm him, I start wondering what the point is. Yes, they made big promises allegedly and then couldn't back those up, but I'd say since he'd been there he had to realize that 90 percent of what they said was blowing smoke.

I know that Guardians of the Galaxy wasn't exactly a huge brand before the movie came out, but I still find it hilarious how WWE promotes awful direct-to-DVD movies but won't promote a Marvel movie because it "might not be good".

Make no mistake the reaction from the fans is not why he left, it was the booking of him as a conquering babyface that he hated and the general uselessness of the WWE.

I'm just baffled as to why they pushed him so damn hard if it WASN'T to promote the movie. He had been gone for several years, Bryan was white hot, and it's not like he's Austin or The Rock. Yeah he was a star when he was around but even at his most over he was number two behind Cena, and for a lot of his run I'd even say Edge and Orton were ahead of him. If it was because he had a role in a huge movie I'd kind of get it but the fact that they didn't want to promote Guardians makes it even weirder.

Really it just continues to show how insulated they are in their bubble.

I wouldn't mind Batista getting another short run, but I don't ever want to see the Rock on WWE television again unless it's a documentary or Stone Cold Podcast or something like that.

Well, it might depend on what deals WWE had with other companies and such which might have prevented them from promoting a rival movie on their network. Not saying, for example, the Scooby Doo deal had anything to do with it but it might have done. But the simpler answer to that, which is probably more right, is that WWE is more willing to promote their own movies for ages because, well, they funded it. They put the money in, casted it and distributed it. What did WWE directly contribute to Guardians of the Galaxy? You can't even say Batista because he was out of the company yonks before.

I never want Batista to come back because I want this to be the lasting, final image of him in a WWE ring
