I was hoping to see Cena vs. AJ Styles at Wrestlemania where Cena ties the 16 time World Champion Record by finally defeating the one man he couldn't beat. But if this is leading to a double turn at The Rumble I won't mind.
I'd rather he tie Flair at a Mania, but I certainly wouldn't complain.
And it's not like Styles hasn't been one of WWE 's most protected heels in years. He has all sorts of potential marquee matchups on the WM card. If Cena doesn't need to be in the title match, AJ frankly doesn't either.
Personally, I think they both do. They've had the most engaging rivalry this year, and Cena having to chase the title to finally win at WrestleMania is a much better story, and would really set up their rivalry as one of Cena's best of all time.

No thanks. I have no problem with him being in a big program, or for the belt; but you can shove him in there just because he's Cena. I'd rather the Rumble be someone new and/or unexpected.
The OP meant beating AJ at the Rumble not the Rumble Match itself.
Ah. I haven't watched the shows in a while.
Then double no. In no way should Cena be involved with AJ again; especially not beating him for the title. At least not for a long time. AJ is the best wrestler in the world right now, has been killing it, and won that program with Cena. John getting a win back would be a step backwards for all involved.
And again, you can slot Cena into a big match with Taker or whatever without the title.
