I'm just surprised at the somewhat progressive nature of a wrestler in WWE, whose Muslim traits are a prominent part of the character, being a babyface, even if it does only end up being for one week.

Just because there are people who want to take things back to the olden days mean that everyone got to follow suit. Ali is a talented dude and is more than just "The Muslim guy". Sami Zayn is the same and most people wouldn't even guessed his racial & religious background because he doesn't act like a stereotype.

Just because he's of Syrian descent doesn't mean he is. He could easily be Christian, Jewish or anything else.

Like I said, people wouldn't guess that about him because he doesn't fit stereotypes.

One of the best to come out of the CWC. Dude has "it" for sure and giving him a babyface push on 205 Live is smart. Dude is charming as f*** and has charisma for days. Neville vs Ali for the gold would be stellar!

This is what they were originally attempting to do with Muhammad Hassan, and I hope this time they get it right. Dude was very organic with his promo about this and I do appreciate!

They did NOT attempt to do that with Muhammad Hassan. From the very beginning he was one of their most disgustingly political caracters EVER and was designed to bash people who claim to be discriminated against. They did that before with black characters (NOD). The way they turned him full-on Al Quaeda and the coincidence with the London bombings finally forced them to murder him onscreen. There was SO MUCH wrong with that character. Frozen Nazi Heidenreich probably wouldn't have been as offensive as he was.

They started Hassan as a heel version of what we saw with Mustafa Ali, then decided that wasn't getting enough heat and went "LOLTerrorist" and thanks to some really bad timing someone lost their job over it. I didn't see it as political.

I called the initial resolution of the Fandango/Summer/Layla triangle a few years ago 'progressive.' Then look what they did with it. He was a heel a few weeks ago too so they're probably still deciding what to do with him.

Just saw 205 Live on the Network and that was a great promo. He's not the best talker but his words were genuine and he had a natural babyface aura to him. Despite the many issues still plaguing the WWE you can't deny that they have become more progressive and that will benefit everyone.

Became a huge fan of his work with Freelance in the last year. Glad he got a shot at the CWC and was able to parlay that into a WWE contract.
