I was playing Chivalry: Medieval Warfare recently, and one of the staple weapons for the Knight is the dual-headed axe. And it got me thinking. Which style of it is best?
So, FAN, what's your preference on the best melee weapon? One single axe head for lightness and focuses chopping? Or two heads for increased attack possibilities?

Axes are for wimps.
Now a good mace, that's my kind of weapon.
Blunt force trauma!

Single, which is what the vast majority of historical battle axes were. Unless the two heads aren't uniform with each other and maybe had different uses, there's not much reason to have two when you're going to be using just the one, plus you'd be better off with a hammer head or a spike on the opposite end, anyway, if you want one that isn't simple.
Of course, if you're doing fantasy stuff, all bets are off, go with what you think looks cool.

My favorite axe weapon is the single-bladed Dane axe used by the Vikings.

Dual bladed axes look the best, but if you really want to chop someone or something up, it's best to concentrate on a single side, so single-bladed it is.

Sometimes you just want to deathy bop someone upside the head or put a hot little dent in their chest. So, single bladed is the best option.

Dual. It's like if a gun had a barrel pointed back at you. Keeps ya in line.

Don't get me wrong, a dual bladed axe looks cool, but I'm not sure it's practical (and the single bladed seems much less prone to getting accidentally sliced with your own axe).

Dual is all fun until you get a little too wild on the backswing. Single bladed saves your own back and can give ya nice club for when splitting things has lost it's fun.

I have an axe-head mattock I use in the woods all the time. Seriously useful tool that could be a ridiculously destructive weapon if you wanted it to be.
