Curious if anyone on here was a dual citizen, knew someone who is, or was interested in becoming one.

Yeah, when Brexit happened I immediately filed for Hungarian citizenship on the grounds of my grandfather, so I could keep my own EU membership.

Yeah, when Brexit happened I immediately filed for Hungarian citizenship on the grounds of my grandfather, so I could keep my own EU membership. You're lucky. I have a Spanish grandmother and Danish grandfather, and as I understand it neither country have a grandparent clause in their dual citizenship eligibility. As neither my mother (half-Spanish) nor my father (half-Danish) ever held citizenship in any country other than Britain I seem to be SOL and JWF.

I'm pretty sure I could ask for UK citizenship due to my parents. I also have a UK based relative that was looking to get their Canadian citizenship not that long ago.

My wife is Indonesian and will qualify for Taiwanese citizenship soon.
We're more than likely going to stay living in Taiwan so at some point I'll qualify too.

My grandfather did not become a US citizen until a month after my mother was born, so she has always been eligible for dual US/British citizenship. She never felt like filing for it.

My wife is a Taiwanese citizen by birth & also holds both an Australian & New Zealand passport. She also lived in Los Angeles for 5 years as a kid (not a US citizen though) so she is a Triple Citizen. She makes frequent trips back to Taiwan to visit family but she doesn't travel on her Taiwanese passport as that would put her on the government's radar for compulsory military service. One of her friends from here in Sydney got pinged because she hadn't become an Aussie citizen yet & she had to go back for a funeral, next thing she is doing two years in the army!

I could probably apply for an Italian citizenship since my dad was born in Italy. I wouldn't do it though, don't really see a point since if I were to go to Italy, if would only be a visit.
I heard that Japanese citizenships are crazy. If you are a half-Japanese kid living in Japan with dual citizenship, you have to pick only one when you become an adult.

Was a Singapore/USA dual citizen until the age of 22, when Singapore made me choose one. Went with USA.

My father had dual citizenship, an American father but born in Austrialia to and Austrailian mother. I'm not sure of the reason but he renounced it when he joined the navy.
