Over the last few years I've been slowly losing by affinity for anime and sticking strictly to manga because I don't have the time to watch anime nor do I like like them adapting stuff when it's complete.
However, when I read about psycho pass a few years ago and it's premise I made sure to catch that when it premiered. Season one is some of the best stuff you can see as far as a crime/thriller/action hybrid can go. Psycho Pass is essentially an anime version of the minority report on a different scale.
Season one was lead by Kogami and his pursuit to stop a killer who's psycho Pass can't be hued based upon his actions. The will he or won't be dynamic plus the surrounding cast made for a good season. At the end I felt it was a satisfying conclusion with some good twist and turns that enhanced the story.
Season 2 while good wasn't on the level of Season one. Akane now takes full charge of lead character role not sharing time with Kogami and while she's a good character she isn't strong enough to carry the show especially with the plot lacking like it was. Nothing felt as epic in season 2 like it did season one.
The movie I thought was pretty good. It cleared up many holes season 2 left and got to see what Kogami had been up to since Season one. It added the dynamic of the outside world adapting Sibyl System which has legs if they want to continue further with the franchise.
I've heard no word of Season 3 or another movie but it's a good franchise that I would recommend for those who haven't seen it.
