I was thinking of doing it in the New year and wanted to know if anyone else has and how was it?

Never have, but my brother, sister, a friend, and my father's best friend have. My father's friend was an instructor and used to dive into stadiums.
They all loved it. If you do it, do a tandem jump first with an instructor. Also plan on setting aside the better part of a day for it. Every time we went out for it, it took hours due to weather and other people jumping.

In 2000 I did it to support a friend I was scared to death until the chute opened up but from that point forward it was awesome.I will never do it again.

Did not particularly enjoy it. Was it exhilarating? Yes. But when the chute opened the harness smushed one of my testicles with great force. 0/10, would not do again.
Bungee jumping was more enjoyable, but don't think I'd do that again either. Once was enough, really.

I did a tandem jump a long time ago. Anxiety kicked in on the way up and the first five seconds were horrible. Then I realized it wasn't bad and had a really good experience. Except for when the professional pulled me against him. Pretty sure I felt his crotch.

It briefly took my mind off the fact I was about to jump out of an airplane.

I've thought about it, and it looks really cool, but the idea of a last-second malfunction kinda scares me away from it.

I was a paratrooper in the Army, which surprisingly has very little carryover to civilian skydiving. You'll be up a lot higher, with a much better chute that makes landings very soft.
However, I do recommend you do it. It is an unparalleled thrill.

Thanks guys for the feedback, I think I'm going to go for it. Also, where's the nearest one to NYC?
How early are you able to book dates?

I went at Skydive Long Island a few years ago. It was at the old Grumman location on Long Island. I think they're in Shirley now. It was a blast and was something I always wanted to do - but something I don't think I need to do again.
Not a huge complaint, but the worst part for me was gliding down on the parachute. Got a little nauseous on the turns circling the field - but not too bad.

That's the part that makes me too scared to do it. Falling with a parachute seems awesome, but the free fall and wondering if my chute was actually going to work properly would literally make me go to the bathroom on myself.

I was pretty terrified until the chute opened but once it did it was a ridiculous rush and it was awesome but as a said I would never do it again I did it survived and have a cool memory and story. While my buddy has done it atleast 20 times since then and I've gone with him since then but I watch from the ground.
