It is probably not as a wrestler, if he's indeed telling the truth. I can't see Vince budging on that, unless they gave him the kind of protection they did Bret in his short run, and just had someone bump for him and take an ankle lock, and call that a day. Even still, after Sting, that's probably not something they want to risk much.

Angle says a lot of things.
If true, I'm guessing it's to replace Foley as GM of Raw. WWE won't put him back in the ring. Having him replace Foley allows them to sell his shirts, action figures, make a DVD/Blu about him, put him in the next game, and have him as headliner for 2018's Hall of Fame.

Just as long as we get one promo on him where Jericho calls him Kirk Angel.

I want one appearance for the pop and, "You suck!" chant, one for going in the Hall of Fame, and then appearing in the video games for the rest of time but not actually appearing on WWE programming again. Can totally live without ever seeing another match from him.

Angle as GM could be great. Angle as a wrestler, not so much.

So yeah, I don't see this happening. At least not until his body's so shot that he's completely incapable of missing moonsaults off of cages.

I'm just astonished he actually got to a point of not being under TNA contract awhile back. You'd think someone that signed a new multi-year contract every six weeks would still be there.

They ran out of money. The only reason why Hogan and Sting finally left TNA. Eventually it happened to Styles, Roode, Young, and Angle also.

Even still, after Sting, that's probably not something they want to risk much. While the thought of Angle needing as much protection in the ring as Bret seems questionable, it might be more accurate to say that Angle can't be trusted not to go into business for himself and thus put the company at legal risk. Bret staked his reputation as a reliable and safe worker, and was never known for problematic PED or other drug use. The run in 2009 was pretty much a "Thank you and we're sorry" run. Angle left because (so my understanding of it is) he refused to go into rehab. If Angle is coming back to WWE, it's most likely with a HoF induction and possible Legends deal. I really don't think he would add much value to the company outside of that. His return to in-ring competition would a) distract from the new stars coming up and being built up and b) act too much as a reminder of all that went wrong with WWE during the later part of the last decade.

I mean more because of the speculation Vince is deeply against Angle in a WWE ring because if he had a career-ending injury, or worse, under WWE contract, it'd bring a lot of heat on the company since Angle is an Olympian. That's more why I figured they'd want to handle him with kid gloves, even if they did relent and let him wrestle, which I don't see as being very likely.

I don't particularly want to see him in the ring again unless it's for one big WrestleMania match or something, but I do desperately want him back in the WWE family. I want Kurt in the games, DVDs, and Network programming.
