I just realized I didn't play a game I liked that was released in 2016
*kinda sad*
Oh well

Hitman is beyond fantastic. The pinnacle of that series.
Overwatch is like playing a Saturday morning cartoon. Fun, fun, fun.
Battlefield 1 is a decent enough game that I can play with co-workers.
WWE2K17 is a game that happened.

Overwatch, DOOM, and World of Warcraft: Legion top my list. Mind you, not having any of the modern gaming consoles limits your options.
And for a mobile game, Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius was really solid.

Overwatch is pretty damn fun to play, if barebones as all hell and with a completely broken loot system. If it sounds like I'm damning it with faint praise... Well, kinda. It's a pity because it's such a fun universe with awesome characters and mechanics, but there's so little to actually do. Ratchet and Clank is a perfect example of what a remake should be, taking what worked from the original and throwing in a ton of new areas, graphical polish and updated mechanics. Buckets of nostalgia and a ton of replayability.
And the game I sunk the most time into this year was the PS4 release of Neverwinter. Great character creator, an absolute ton of content (to the point where - at level 44 - I feel like I've barely scratched the surface), and free to play. The only things that cost money are optional, and they toss free stuff at you constantly anyway, so I've only ever got bits and pieces because I wanted to actually support the developer. Very handy for visual reference for D&D sessions, too.
