Adam Blampied from WhatCulture.com counts down what he thought were the worst matches on WWE PPV this year.
2017 take note.

Yeah... I can't disagree with that list. Lesnar vs. Ambrose still annoys me with how good it could've been.

I can't believe Jericho tried to give props to himself (like he always does) against Ambrose on his podcast about this. He said "Ambrose feuded with me and not long later he became champion" like he did something about it. Nah bruh, the company realized they f***ed up with that match and that Lesnar match and gave Ambrose what he deserved and that was the title.
All they had to do is cut that Asylum match down by 10 minutes. It was 26 minutes too long. f***ed up.

I believe it was reported that something else ran short so they gave the time to the Asylum match... which uh... wasn't layed out to have that extra time so they had extra time... which lead to stalling... so much stalling...

Yep. All I keep thinking about is how the match would have been with 10 less minutes. It wasn't a horrible match, it was just average. If they didn't have to use up time it could have been a great one.

Ambrose/Lesnar was by far my biggest disappointment of 2016. That match should've been a bloody, old school war that Ambrose either barely won or barely lost, and because Lesnar didn't want to do anything too risky leading up to UFC 200, it might as well not have happened. It should've been this huge, star-making performance for Dean, and it was just kind of...there.

There's no reason he had to go into thumbtacks for Ambrose. He easily could have said hell no on that one. He was very clearly trying to give the guy all the shit that his WrestleMania match was lacking. He let the violent psycho actually look violent psycho.

Yeah, that Axel/Truth match that was shoehorned into Fastlane was a bit ridiculous, but I agree with most, I HATED the Ambrose Asylum. It felt like that damn match dragged on FOR-E-VER.

Putting Alicia Fox vs Nia Jax, a short pre-show match, on this list seems a bit like picking the low hanging fruit. The match was not bad by any means. There were no apparent botches or hiccups and it served it storyline purpose. Alicia played her role as underdog well and managed to get the crowd on her side while Nia got her first real test on the main roster. For what it was, it was solid.
I can think of other matches, even specifically other women's matches that were actual main card PPV matches, that could have taken it's place. Most of the Charlotte/Nattie matches were nothing to write home about. Alexa/Noami at No Mercy was a mess. The SS match flopped. Charlotte/Sasha/Bayley at Clash of Champions was wholly unremarkable. Heck most of Bayleys matches have been. Putting the Fox/Jax match on this list just feels like a cop out but alas this is a WhatCulture video so I shouldn't read too much into it. They're not exactly the epitome of wrestling insight, imo.

I actually kinda liked Alicia Fox vs. Nia.
But Ambrose vs. Lesnar can go to hell. Straight to hell!

No idea what was actively BAD about Nia/Alicia!?!?
Asylum Match sucked ass, but we're talking *1/2 level here, not negative stars. Same with HHH/Reigns

To be fair, Chris Jericho in 2016 is someone who can easily build up someone's credibility with a feud, and after the wet fart that his Lesnar feud ended up being in the end, it was important to give Dean someone credible who he could beat. And Jericho put his all into it; that feud was in many ways the start of Chris Jericho Can Get Anything Over In 2016. I don't think there's too much fault to be found in him taking credit for that. Hell, internally, they may have been saying just that; "Ambrose needs someone he can feud with to help us get him credible in time for the brand split because we want him to be Smackdown's top face with the WWE title. Chris, can you do it?"

May Mitch the Plant rest in pieces, knowing that he paved the way for such luminaries as Vangaurd 1, the List of Jericho, Skarsgard the Dilapidated Boat, and so many more.

I thought the Ambrose/Jericho match was the best cage match in forever. It was the first cage match in a while that felt as violent and final as a cage match should. The problem was the feud itself was too goofy a lot of the time, and though I'm glad they didn't end up using the plant as a weapon in the cage, I'd rather they not have strung up a plant on the cage in the first place, but the match itself I thought was alright.
