For 2 years now I've been telling myself I'll wait to pick up the handful of PS3 and Xbox 360 games I hadn't bought that I wanted because I thought they'd drop down to like 5 bucks. This has been pretty consistent anytime the new gen happens. In this time I've bought new systems, games, etc and the old games I was waiting to just pick up cheap are still not cheap.
I'd love to know why stores are still selling old gen games for basically the same prices as the current gen ones, what gives?
We're looking at things like
Assassins Creed Rogue still sitting at 20 bucks Lost Odyssey is 30 and it was just free on live Jak and Daxter collection is 20 Ratchet and Clank collection is super expensive
Some of those I get are going to still sell but Assassins Creed? I just was going to pick it up because I have all the others but geez.
Anyone have have any idea why these games haven't been severely dropped in price yet?

I'd wager that the buy in for his generation hasn't been as swift as it was previous generations, So demand for PS3 and X-Box 360 games isn't low enough to have huge price drops

Depends on where you go, though I find RPGs take forever in particular to drop in price, a lot of times. I guess it's since they're long and people don't flip them as often as sports titles, etc.

I've already seen Final Fantasy XV for as low as $40, and Dark Souls III is the same way (while the earlier games can be found for a pittance). Yet some of the Atlas RPGs are still pricey. Disgaea 5 has been out for almost 2 years and is barely a technical marvel (I'm thoroughly convinced the PS3 could've ran it, no sweat), yet $50 is the best price I've ever seen on that, and some still sell it for the full $60. But in support of your point, the amount of content in a Disgaea game is batshit crazy, even by RPG standards.

Yeah, I was specifically thinking of Atlus and stuff like that, but you're right, Square-Enix stuff drops down quicker since there are many more copies out there.

Sales are probably still trickling in so no need to drop the price. Of course there are plenty of examples of late gen games holding their price, or even getting more expensive, although these don't seem like those sort of games.
