Im saying when Savio made it to the ME, he took Savios spot in the other match. Ahmed as always advertised to be in the 10 man tag. It was dubbed a "War of Attrition" that pitted the Nation against all of their biggest rivals over their existence. As a kid I thought this sounded awesome and was beyond disappointed that it was just a regular one fall tag match. If I'm not mistaken it was originally hyped as being elimination, which makes sense as that's basically what attrition means as the teams would be gradually weakened through team members getting eliminated. It didn't really make sense that they still kept calling it the War of Attrition when it ended up just being a regular one fall tag match. In hindsight though I think it was better that they ended up just doing it as one fall mainly because they had already done an elimination match a few months before at Survivor Series with most of the same guys (Shamrock/Ahmed/LOD vs. Faarooq/Rock/D'Lo/Kama). Also other then Shamrock, Rock, and D'Lo there was a lot of slugs in that match so keeping it one fall and shorter was probably for the best as it probably would've overstayed it's welcome if they had dragged it too long with elimination rules.

Ahmed Johnson had a great look, and he was instantly over.
... but if you cant wrestle without hurting yourself or others your career isn't going to have staying power.

Pearl River Plunge (I think that was it's name) was boss though Ah, the Tiger Driver. Love the move, have used it as a CAW finisher whenever possible in 2k.

No, Savio wrestled & even wrapped Cactus Jack in barbed wire in that match. Im saying when Savio made it to the ME, he took Savios spot in the other match. Eh, I don't think Ahmed had Savio's spot. From what I had gathered on some sources, it seemed that Los Boricuas were helping DX at that time. Hence Savio's inclusion in the main event. Of course in the storyline, DX were stringing them along.

It's still just painfully fascinating to see how quickly outdated Ahmed Johnson had become from the beginning of 1997 towards the end of it. Even when he was starring in those Attitude vignettes in November/December of that year he just didn't fit in whatsoever. If there was ever a time to pull the trigger & put him in the main event, the spring (post Curtain Call) - summer of 96 would've been it. There wasn't anybody besides HBK & Shawn would've made him look like a superstar. Once 97 hit & Austin really started to get hot + Bret being back, he was finished. If he could cut a semi decent promo, maybe he could've lasted a bit longer.

This isn't relevant to the discussion but Ahmed Johnson played Suge Knight in Too Legit: The MC Hammer Story, this fact feels like it should be more well known
