From Talkin Smack.
What the hell was that? He started off good, and he's been doing great promo work for a while; but yeesh, when he went full on "angry" mode it was a bit much. I get what he was goin for, but it was so over the top that it was more chuckle worthy than anything else.

See, I liked it. It was a Miz on the edge of snapping. Dude realizes with this brand split that he has the best opportunity he's gotten since 2010/11, and he's not wasting it at all.

He's a heel. He came across like an absolute petty douchebag and that's exactly what his character is. I'd rather he didn't have to lose the title to do that, but hey here we are.

The whole thing is that Renee and Bryan were clearly made uncomfortable by how angry he was, but that to fans it was still a tantrum they could hate Miz for throwing due to him being a sore loser.

He's a heel. He came across like an absolute petty douchebag and that's exactly what his character is. Pretty much this. Heels don't need to be endearing. Be petty. Be a crybaby. Be "WTF is wrong with this guy?" It's the reason me and a lot of people have to watch 80s anything to get a decent heel that's actually a heel. He's doing it right. And again, this isn't even coming from a true fan of his. It's coming from someone who has grown to respect what he's bringing to the table. Getting closer and closer to being a full blown fan. OP just describes 75-80 percent of every good heel promo worth watching from pre-1993. 15-20 percent were just legit scary or weird. The other 5 percent were more like what the 95 percent of today's WWE heel promos resemble: trash.

My initial reaction was the 6 year old temper tantrum like someone above mentioned, but the more I think on it it was brilliant since it really put over how much Miz craved the IC title and the spotlight.
Without the title Miz is floundering in his Broken Brilliance.

It was pathetic. He looked like a complete moron claiming he should've been disqualified for Maryse slapping Ambrose and then throwing a fit that a 5 year old would've been embarrassed by.
Miz is unquestionably wrestlings best heel. I say that with no sarcasm.

His character is a whining, pathetic sack of shit and he deserves every ounce of pain he receives. It's f***ing glorious.

They're so emphatically douchey and annoying, there's nothing even slightly likeable about them. Miz is in a league of his own though. Last nights Talking Smack put it over the top. He is as old school a heel as there can be. I cant even say I like him for it. I see him in promos and Im just like, goddamn that guy is a piece of shit.

They have a badass finisher and they crack jokes that are actually funny. Miz is not a workrate guy and he isn't funny - but that's deliberate.

So, I just watched the promo and I loved it. Miz making a case for the DQ, but also telling Bryan "I didn't do anything!" when Bryan accuses him of trying to cheat and weasel his way out of losing the title again was great.
There are the bits of Miz whining and Bryan also getting under his skin that always make this the most compelling dynamic in the company.
The most interesting thing about SDL Miz is that he genuinely believes he's the best, but he's still motivated to cheat all the time. He's so obsessed with his championship that he will do anything to keep it. I think on some level he believes that without the IC title he won't get any real opportunities because of how much Bryan hates him, so he's always doing whatever he can to make himself and that title indispensable. Without it he knows that he's nothing. Not because he doesn't believe in himself, but because he genuinely believes that the man in charge doesn't want him there.
So here you have a heel that's constantly going against the face authority figure, but not in a way that makes him sympathetic. On some level you could question Bryan for being so open about how he doesn't like The Miz, but then you see Miz's actions and go "eh, I get it". By that same token; Miz is operating as closely to the edge of the rules as one can and getting away with it. He's not really doing anything wrong, or being any less of a wrestler than anyone else, he's just an insecure douchebag that cheats.
My only concern is that they keep adding layers to this Miz/Bryan story with no realistic payoff in sight. I don't know what their plans are for the IC title or Miz come Wrestlemania.

One thing I'll give Miz credit for, and I'm loathe to give him credit for anything so this is a legit compliment, is that he's one of the only heels on the roster who has no problem looking or acting like an utterly unlikable douche. So many other heels on the roster, even "great" ones like Charlotte or Owens, still try really hard to come off as funny or badass or what-have-you, but there's basically nothing likable or admirable about Miz's character in any way. He's not cool, he's not flashy, he doesn't have a sing-song catchphrase (anymore), he's just a total prick.

As I said, I get that he's a heel and that's what he was goin for; you'd have to be pretty dense not get that.
Still thought it was corny.

In the future, Miz and The Revival need to be the ones to teach the Performance Center's master class on the art of being a heel, and point to Owens as an example of what not to do. They just get it.
