Both would have refused to job to the other. I do vaguely remember reading something to this effect years ago. that, if it happened,it was just going to be a one shot deal but neither one was willing to take the loss without a chance to get their win back so things fell through. to whatever small degree it was actually going to happen in the first place that is. edit: though I could have my manias mixed up here as well

Wait... people blame Hogan for killing WCW? Absurdity! The TBS/Time-Warner merger killed it. Hogan definitely contributed to their general downturn in fortunes though.

Wait... people blame Hogan for killing WCW? Absurdity! He was a big factor in the rapid decline in ratings that made it easy for Jamie Kellner to cancel WCW, and impossible for Fusient to find them a new home. He spent from 1994-96 going over every heel in the company then after his heel turn, every face that went up against him was undermined, come 1999 the audience were sick of it and the bottom fell out. He undermined Luger, Sting, Goldberg, Hart, Hall and Nash and humiliated Ric Flair at every turn, face or heel, then turned face to repeat the same old crap that got him pelted with garbage in 1996. He wasn't the only reason WCW died but he was a big reason that fans turned away in 1998 and 1999, the shows were being booked to send Hulk Hogan home happy and nobody else, there's only so long you can do that before the audience says 'Nope!' and heads off to do something else on their monday night, just ask Triple H.

Steamrolled the heels? Did you actually watch? Hogan was made to look inferior to Vader. Vader dominated that fued. Hogan was dominated by Giant, and even lost the title to him. Hogan did his winning formula. I really think this is typical IWC bias.

This was probably just a bargaining tool for Hogan to get that HUGE WCW contract he ended up getting. Bad Guy Bollea strikes again

Um.... have you ever seen a Hogan match? This is his gimmick. The No-Selling Super Hero. But it's obvious, you hate Hogan.

Finally read that article, and it too is incredibly biased. I watched that fued when it happened and recently re-watched the matches, Vader is booked to be Hogan's equal and dominates the thing. He takes the Leg Drop, kicks out at 1 and dominates that 1st match. The strap match? He dominates that and typical bad WCW booking which already exsited before Hogan, f***ed it up. The tag match is actually really good, and it protects Vader, and the Cage match is the most definitive match they had, and Hogan wins by escape. Never did he make Vader look like a fool, IMO.

This was probably just a bargaining tool for Hogan to get that HUGE WCW contract he ended up getting. Probably. This is also not terribly far off from when Flair was on the outs with WCW, and also considered coming to WWF during that time, though in his case, he probably gave it more serious thought since Flair had a much less sweet gig in WCW at that time than Hogan did.
