I think the reason for this secret season is quite simple. Mike finally realised that the stories were dragging at iceberg speed and decide to make a "extra" season to speed things up that or he wanted to get as much stuff wrapped up before certain people got signed up by the WWE.

So wait, Season 17 is done, in the can, but they're gonna release the shows concurrent with season 18? Is this...alternate timelines or is 18 definitively taking place after 17? That....feels like a profoundly stupid question, but I gotta ask it. 17 is all filmed and in the can, and takes place before 18. I figure the next batch of 3 will be released after several season 18 shows. The next few Season 18 shows are next month, I don't see them waiting that long to release them. I think the 6 remaining shows will be released before those shows next month.

I'm glad I canceled my WWE Network subscription after the Royal Rumble. I'm going to need all my free time to make sense of this angle.

I think the reason for this secret season is quite simple. Mike finally realised that the stories were dragging at iceberg speed and decide to make a "extra" season to speed things up I think the reason he did it is even more simple than that. I think he did it because he could. If you really pay close attention to CHIKARA you'll see a lot of his own personal interests appropriated into it. He's been incorporating stuff from Batman, Transformers, Talking Heads, M.A.S.K., etc. for as long as CHIKARA has been around. Show titles, characters, angles and stories have all been affected by this. It's not obvious if you're not familiar with his tastes in pop culture but it's kind of a bonus for you if you can see it. It's no secret that Quack is a massive fan of Lost. He's spoken about it at length many times. He has a podcast where he speaks about his many interests and that can help clue you in to what influences him. I think he's wanted to work his love of Lost into CHIKARA for a long time and now he's found a way to do it. Making this Topia exclusive content is expected to get more people subscribing. If you're a CHIKARA fan you have to get it to see this lost season. If you're one of those fans that jumps in when something unique happens, this is for you. CHIKARA claims they picked up a lot of fans during the shutdown which was was odd because there wasn't much new content to keep people interested. Now there's a whole mini season of content to keep them watching so this sounds like a much better concept, in my opinion. The only real criticism of this that I might have is if UltraMantis Black really did win the grand championship during this season. That would be one of the greatest moments in the history of CHIKARA and to give it away here in an effort to get subscriptions looks way too desperate and steals that moment as well as the build to it from their fans. UltraMantis Black's return and journey to the title would be an amazing season that would get a lot of fans interested in CHIKARA. Wasting it on hotshotting Topia is a very bad idea. Once it's done it's done. You can't give the fans that high or create that buzz again.

Wait, is UltraMantis Black back? I stopped paying attention to Chikara ( A company that genuinely might of been my favorite wrestling company from 2008 - 2012) because of that year long tournament thing as well as UMB's retirement. Was the retirement a work? Yes and no. His injury was 100% real. The timeframe for his return was just too far away to leave fans hanging so saying he was retiring was a great way to set up a big pop for his return. He did appear in a wheelchair, kind of in a managerial role and even being possessed by Nazmaldun. That was a clever way to keep him around until he healed up. It's strange to me that they gave his return away on a secret show. Fans definitely would've sold out a venue to see him back in the ring. He is that popular. Look how long you've been gone and you're here asking about him. Haha. You're not wrong. UMB was a fav character of mine for years. His involvement in the ROH/CHIKARA feud made me think he might finally get some bigger notice, but sadly not.

Word on the street is that the Infinite Gauntlet will be returning at The Eleventh Hour in May. Also hearing rumblings of livestreams for that show and Rex.

Just finished Tabula Rasa and I really enjoyed it. During the main event I had a thought. I know people are bitching about giving away an Ultramantis title win and I gotta say, first of all, let's let the story play out a little bit more before we shit can it, and second, while I agree they could have made some money off of not only Ultramantis' return match but a title victory over Hallowicked I just have to point out that Quack has always been one for telling stories over earning money. It's kind of us to all worry about the financial situation of the company but let Mike make those decisions and just enjoy the ride. Also, I gotta say, I am super hyped for the eventual Hallowicked revenge match with Mantis if that is where the story is headed. So, win/win I feel.

Both are kinda coming off some tough losses, expect Dasher to win here unless his storyline plays into a losing streak.

Do you think we'll ever see a physical Nazmaldun or is it understood that he is a mythical creature and not someone we will see?
