Troll as Amasis would be great. I honestly think it's the best option, anyone else would have huge shoes to fill.
If it's the genuine article somehow...that's really awkward. Like, real awkward given how he departed that last time.

Seriously, when was the last time that Troll actually wrestled a match?

I don’t know what the payoff would be if there is going to be a new Amasis teaming with the new Ophidian. I liked the angle with the Swarm / Gekido. They had an interesting feud with the Colony. I think it was cut short because they couldn’t do a masks vs masks match. The result wouldn’t have matched up with the story we were being told.
I figured we might eventually get new Ophidian against old Ophidian in a mask vs mask match where the actual Ophidian would win and reclaim his identity while the new one would just go back to being the Whisper. People would be happy to have the real Ophidian back, Whisper gets his comeuppance and that’s the payoff.
Bringing back an Amasis character further mocks the original Ophidian and I get that. The actual Amasis is done with CHIKARA. Unless he’s planning to come back, I don’t see what the payoff could be here. There’s no way Hieracon or Mecha Mummy are going to show up to help Ourboros come back to being Ophidian and start their own Portal to go up against the new team.

Seriously, when was the last time that Troll actually wrestled a match? If it's the same dude under there, I think it was that Trios Match where Thunderfrog (Or Proud Oak, I forget which died first) was killed by Deucalion. Which was against The Boar, Mr. Az, and The Brown Morning of Belarus. So... awhile.

I completely missed this Tweet but YIKES. I understand the getting paid part. CHIKARA isn’t exactly known for paying that well. The family values bit feels like a shot fired. I don’t get why he tagged Bret Hart with the family values comment after what his family has been through with the WWF / WWE.

Jervis in New Jersey? Is it the same Jervis? He hasn't done any east coast shows (outside of Mania weekend) since the Infinite Gauntlet, right? Weird.

This match was a yikes. I don't get it at all. From Quack just accepting this is Ophidian, not questioning where one of his oldest friends went, and the finish which the whole crowd just balked at... yeesh...

From Quack just accepting this is Ophidian, not questioning where one of his oldest friends went, and the finish which the whole crowd just balked at... yeesh... Uh... at 1:03 Quack acknowledges that it is the Whisper who stole Ophidian's identity. Then why not call him Whisper? Why does Quack call him Ophidian when he knows it isn't? He treated it like it was a regular match with Ophidian despite the fact it was someone else and he acknowledged the fact that it was. Again for someone Quack should kayfabe really care about, he treated Ophidian like any other competitor, knowing it isn't him, instead of engrossing us in the fact this is a new Ophidian, a tainted Ophidian, an Impostor in the Snake Skin throughout the match, even pointing out differing styles or how the new Skin would effect Whisper, he treated it like it was just... Ophidian."Oh it's a different guy under the hood but look guys, Ophidian!", and it was... incredibly odd, and comes off like there isn't a payoff for this...

Man, that idea to have The Furies look out for one another and protect CHIKARA from threats has really paid off for ole Quack. Definitely doesn't feel like a 2.0 of The Future is Now where Quackenbush formed the group for the lads and then left them to their own devices & left them to the wolves.

It's not the first time Quack made a group and could have really struck something while the iron was hot. I remember UnStable not winning King of Trios... Could have had UnStable vs Future is Now in the Final... could have... Also huge shoutout to Quack for having Ricochet before next to no one knew him and doing absolutely nothing with him but sticking him in a mask and watching him flop around... bet that feels good right about now. The more you really think about CHIKARA's past the more you really realize how nowhere so much of the roster went in the end. Many of them finding huge success in other promotions and even WWE. Pretty much wasted in CHIKARA.

Man, that post bums me out, though. Quack REALLY did miss the boat on Ricochet, huh? Like a comic collector sitting on top of a mint condition first issue worth a million, and not even knowing it.

Man, that post bums me out, though. Quack REALLY did miss the boat on Ricochet, huh? Like a comic collector sitting on top of a mint condition first issue worth a million, and not even knowing it. In his defense, Ricochet during his initial CHIKARA days was a bean pole spot monkey that had zero presence and was really rough in the ring. In the sense that his transitions and the flow of his matches were all over the place if he wasn't in there with a guy leading him by the hand. Because they'd go "HIGH SPOT! ....UHHHHH....HIGH SPOT! ....UHHHHH.....HIGH SPOT! ...UHHHH..." rinse and repeat. So I get why Quackenbush would put him in a mask, it gave him something beyond being a dude in gym shorts with great big hair flipping around the place. Even if it was a superficial something. Because lord knows his promos in CHIKARA were bowling shoe ugly. It wasn't till after he went to Dragon Gate & essentially left American indies for a few years to bulk up and really hone his craft did he start to become who he is today. But there's no way even then CHIKARA could compete with Japan's money, nor was it necessarily Quack's fault he didn't foresee what Ricochet would transform into. It'd be like scolding someone for not hanging onto CM Punk in his first few years in the business because of who & what he'd become. Hindsight's a bitch.
