Nah, I still think it's good, I just wanted to explain my analysis of why it's not as good as it could have been. I think that's why I harshly judge it. It built a lot and pissed it away in a half-assed fashion. If it was a shit setting with a shit story and shit characters; I would not have really cared. But it was a cool setting, with a couple of really cool potential stories that were glossed over and many, many missed opportunities. Yeah, pretty much. It feels like they made a game using slowly the core elements discussed in the first meeting and then forgot to add all the side stuff that makes great RPGs so memorable. The exploration, the lore, the secrets, the side quests, the mini games, the weird moments that keep fans speculating. It's got a strong base but it doesn't expand on it. It's like a tree with no branches. Like I said, I do like the game. There are several characters I enjoy following (if Sazh and Fang aren't among my top 10 FF characters, then they're honourable mentions), the story - while obtuse - is interesting, the combat system is way better than I expected, the graphics and music are spectacular... but at the end of the day, it constantly limits itself for no good reason and as result, it is just good. And I've said it before and I'll say it again, Final Fantasy should not be content with merely being good, especially when it visibly has the potential to be great as is the case here. But hey, still better than X.
