WB shouldn't bother with a film. They are crap at films. Just introduce the character on an episode of Supergirl, then spin it off into a TV show.

They've teased Hal on the Flash TV show a few times. Don't expect to ever see him on the CW shows though. They would blow the budget on the ring cgi alone.
That's why they don't have Grodd show up on Flash much.

don't go Hal Jordan as Green Lantern, They have a few to choose from - John Stewart - Kyle Rayner - Guy Gardner - Simon Baz - Jessica Cruz Hell John, Simon & Jessica can tick the diversity box (Jessica in 2 ways, Latino & Woman) I don't have the connection to Hal Jordan as Green Lantern that most DC fans do, I was obsessed with JL and JLU as a teenager so John Stewart is GL to me. Kyle is my GL, personally.

If DC is really this dead set on doing a Hal Jordan movie, then they need to set it in the 1960's. That's the only era I can imagine a square-jawed, devil may care test pilot like Jordan having any kind of appeal. Contrasting his traditional heroic archtype of that generation against the counter-culture movement and social issues of the age could make for an amazing movie in the right hands (i.e. not Snyder's).
But if you want to set it in modern times, then any other Lantern would be a better choice. Kyle's personality and background easily appeals best to modern audiences. John Stewart is probably the Lantern best known to the general public due to the cartoon and people have been begging for a movie about him for more then a decade. Guy Gardner is so different and unique from every other Lantern that I can't see him not getting a following. I honestly know nothing about Cruz or Baz, but considering the current sociopolitical climate, I would think a movie about a female or especially a Muslim superhero would be very very appealing. Even Alan Scott would have a cool Captain America/man out of time feel to him.
I like to imagine that when WB called Reynolds about this he just put on a Deadpool mask (I like to imagine he goes everywhere carrying a Deadpool mask, just in case) and then laughed and laughed at them over the phone.
