Longest: I worked in a sports bar for six years. It was initially just supposed to be a short-term job while I got settled into living in a new city, but I wound up sticking around.
Shortest: barman/waiter/housekeeper at a small 700 year-old restaurant/B&B. The owner was a real asshole who asked me to work on Christmas Day on the promise of triple pay, and then pulled a "I never said that" when I didn't even get paid for that shift in my next paycheque. He then tried to berate me for not cleaning a room (because the guest staying in there had asked me not to) so I told him to go f*** himself and walked. That one lasted all of three weeks.

Longest 2+ years at Vons as a courtesy clerk. Only lost my job because the store closed down.
Shortest: 1 month of Tech support at Sitel. I just panicked and froze up whenever I was on the phone.
Luckily I'm doing MUCH better now on the phone as a survey interview. Been working since September.

Longest: five years in my current job as a dispatcher for a regional cable company, though with rumors of pay cuts looming that is likely to change
Shortest: one day at a warehouse that packed medical tools for shipping. The manager was a dick who fired me after one shift because I dared to make a joke

Longest 4 years at an English school
Shortest 2 hours at this crap office. It was a long commute, the office was a freezing cold portacabin and after an hour I'd completed the work I was asked and the supervisor had no idea what else to give me to do. It was awful so I just left.

Longest: (close to) 11 years at my current job (programming and testing datasets, tables, listings and figures for various clinical studies).
Shortest: Close to less than half a day (this was when I was doing temp work from 1997 to early 1999).

Longest is right now with my current employer (Southern Glazers Wine and Spirits)...it will be 5 years at the end of May. Shortest ever was my prior job as a wine manager for Vons/Pavilions...at 8 months, I quit and f***ed them over on my last day by ordering 15 pallets of booze

Shortest: 3 days at a post office warehouse, was only for the holiday, got yelled at on my first day for not knowing where to go after I was done in an area (I went back to where I was before). Also never knew when the shift would be over in the middle of the night, could be 2am, 4am, or whenever, and I took public transit, so yea left.
Longest: 6 years at a movie theater, entirely too long, I was a film crew lead (a supervisor basically), did all areas except projection. There was definitely cool people there, some I know that are now high up on the manager chain. There was also the ones that took their job too seriously and were dicks to everyone. I left in 2009, glad I did, next few jobs I only worked 2 and a half years, because of amc, after 2 years at any job I look at it, think whether I actually want to stay there or could go higher then look for a new job.
With that said I'm almost 1 year in my current job and think I'll work here for the long haul, its an insurance company and I really like it here.

Shortest: 1 week doing Telemarketing, that was my breaking point and definitely was not cut out for it.
Longest: 4 years working at a department store, though I'm going to break the record pretty soon with my current job working administration at a hospital.

I'm halfway through my ninth year in my current teaching position, which is my longest tenure at any job.
Not counting the time I filled in for two days at my aunt's shoe store and got paid in pizza, my shortest stint was my first summer job at Walmart when I was 17, which lasted a month.

I had a number of ill-fated jobs as a teen, but my first ever job was the shortest.
When I was 14, I came home from school one day and my mom told me she got me a part-time job on the weekend at Swiss Chalet. If you are unfamiliar with Swiss Chalet, it's a Canadian restaurant chain that serves rotisserie chicken. I love the place.
Anyway, I show up for my first shift on a lazy Sunday afternoon and it's pretty uneventful - I think I broke a couple of dishes, but other than that, it was fine. As I'm leaving, I ask the manager when he wanted me in next, assuming it was going to be the following Friday night or Saturday afternoon. He hands me a schedule on which I am scheduled for 40 hours.
I politely explain to the man that I am a child who attends school and cannot work that often (also, pretty sure that's illegal, bud). He tells me he needs somebody more flexible and that's the end of me at Swiss Chalet.

Five years. Three days.
If you thought perhaps I didn't enjoy the latter gig at all, then you would be quite correct. Never quit anything quicker.
