Morgan Webb was a shitty actress who never once convinced me she'd actually played any of the video games she reviewed or cared about any of the things she said.

I started watching with Extended Play when it was Sessler and...Kate? I remember being wowed at seeing a video game show on tv again after so many years of that stuff kinda going away. Then it became X-Play, and it was one of the few shows after the G4 merger that was still watchable. Humor was hit or miss, but I'm glad it had a long tenure. My favorite bit was Meet The Sess. "He's heard you call him gay, retarded, uneducated, infantile, humorless, bald..." www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpBGTXDfQksKate Botello. Yep. I don't know if she came on RIGHT at the change from "Gamespot TV" to "Extended Play" but I remember her well. I thought she tried a little too hard to be quirky, but it at least seemed natural and not like she was trying to play something up. You got the idea that that was just her. She never took it to an obnoxious degree. And "Meet The Sess" was a riot. Some of those comedy routines sucked, but some of them were absolute gold. A few of them even worked on that "Tim and Eric"/"Eric Andre" surrealist level before that became an "in" thing on TV. Though a few of them did absolutely suck. I always found it funny how the only game they ever gave a 10/10 on the old Gamespot TV format (and they scored on a .1 scale, they didn't just round up to the closest .5 or whole number) was Chrono Cross. Nothing against the game, but there were a LOT from that era they gave lower scores to (I remember being annoyed when they gave Zelda; OoT a 9.7 but then a year later gave NFL2K a 9.9....keep in mind, I was 12-13 at the time). I do remember Sessler saying the only other game they'd have given a 10/10 if they kept that format of reviewing instead of going to a 5-point, whole-number scale was Resident Evil 4. Though he himself would often cite personally preferring other games, he'd constantly namedrop the Sly Cooper games. I don't know if they've aged well considering they were done a while back (and I've not gone back to watch them), but the Sessler's Soapbox segments that they usually just did on the G4 website were gold too. Sessler would cut some "CM Punk pipebomb" levels of commentary on videogaming to a level I've seen NOBODY on YouTube touch since. Angry Joe could take some lessons from those, instead of just being all "[expletive][expletive][synonym for greedy][company name]CHARGING[price]FOR [DLC in question] IS [expletive][expletive][synonym for stupid] AND [synonym for wrong]" and finding some way to just repeat that over and over for ages. But even at the start the show was great. I still remember getting in trouble in 5th grade because we went to the computer lab in the library for an assignment and I just minimized a RealPlayer vid of the entire Dreamcast preview episode they had up on their website because I'd not seen that episode yet and was psyched as all hell about the Dreamcast. I also remember they co-hosted for a long time from Sony's Metreon arcade in San Francisco, and I swore to myself I'd make a trip out there someday.

Man, such a love/hate relationship with this. '98 and '99, it was about games. Then, skits. Sketches. Bits. So many of the comedy interludes were just .... why? Yeah, anytime they just did straight game news or reviews, I enjoyed it. But some of those skits I didn't find funny at all. There were too many cringeworthy gay jokes for me. Other than that, Sessler was a good host. Webb was alright.

I was never a big gamer, but that show was so much fun.

I liked judgment day better Judgement Day was awesome. They always gave legitimate criticism of games and I like the "two people giving their own score" concept way better since it gives you two different opinions to base your interest on.

Nice, I came in here to say I liked Judgement Day better too, best is electric playground which seemed to be very similar, has eps up on YouTube from 97 and on, so awesome.
Never cared for xplay, imo once g4 merged with tech tv was the beginning of the end of it being good.
Btw ronilyn reilly was haaawt from pulse.

She was a bit like the desperate-for-attention girl in a group who just interjects with things that the group can't refute, and then relies on the "by the way, I'm hot, right?" despite never really saying or doing anything that has any real relevance to the group she's starving to placate.

To be fair, that is an unfortunate stereotype a lot of women gamers in real life, who really are committed diehard gamers, have to deal with. Now I'm not saying that Webb suffers from that. I didn't think she was especially knowledgeable either, certainly nowhere as much as Sessler. But it is kind of a stigma.

I loved Extended Play, but once it turned to X Play it started going downhill.
