Can we discuss the most embarrassing travesty in music ever? That Disturbed piece where out of nowhere at the end of the song dude starts crying about mommy spanking him and then killing her in revenge? Like, I can't bump that. OH-WA-AH-AH-AH

The only Drowning Pool song I ever liked. Really? I see nothing wrong with it, even now in 2017 I see nothing wrong with it. I've never understood the whole backlash against Nu Metal anyway...I remember when Limp Bizkit/Korn/Linkin Park/Disturbed etc were very popular (as I've said in the past, they were the only non-rap stuff I was listening to back then). And in the last few years I've seen nothing but backlash against the genre as a whole. I just don't get the retroactive hate is all. I think it's the "Old Shame" factor for the most part. for a lot of people it was the gateway to heavier music (it sure as shit was for me) but in retrospect it comes off as super juvenile. basically a product of its time. I mean it was the heaviest shit ever for a lot of people until they heard Cannibal Corpse and said "yeah I think I like this stuff better". I don't understand the whole 'old shame' thing. Also, I don't get how it's 'super juvenile' or 'a product of its time'...what does that even mean? As for discovering 'heavier' stuff, I've spoken about my weird musical journey in other threads, but basically I listened to nothing but rap from the age of 9 all the way up until I was around 24-ish, and the only stuff I really listened to apart from rap was nu-metal stuff like Limp Bizkit etc, and yes, I did think it was the heaviest music in existence back then. I was only ever a casual fan of the genre, and I didn't stick with it, and instead I stuck with rap...my point being that I only discovered the 'heavier' stuff a few years ago, Cannibal Corpse being one of the bands that I only discovered a few years ago, and since then I've become a big fan of certain styles of metal, so much so that it's become equal with rap for me. ...I don't know where I was going with this. Oh no I have no ill will against Nu Metal. Just this very repetitive song. I'm not against repetitive music myself, at least as long as I enjoy it. This is a "so stupid it's enjoyable " song to me. I enjoy it in that same sort of ironic way I do with a big chunk of Limp Bizkit stuff. I genuinely don't know what makes the song stupid...what makes the song stupid?

That's a track that definitely would have benefited from anyone just being all "let's just remove this last part".

When it first came out I was like "dude, really?" I was a pretty moody teen, but those were some ridiculous lyrics.

Such disrespect for the theme of the WCW inVasion. Hey, remember when they had to replace it because of the imagery of bodies falling after........... you know........ (And count me as one who's always liked that song, too.)

Nu Metal got me into Metal around 2000-2001 so I owe it a lot really. Still enjoy listening to it every now and then. This band weren't one of my favourites really but this is a good tune.

f*** what ya'll say. Disturbed has stood the test of time, they rock. Dreiman's mommy rant at the end of "The sickness" was funny, then and now.

While I cant say I love nu-metal (to me, stuff like Priest, Maiden, and Dio is metal in its purest form), i do enjoy a handful of bands in the genre, and its still better than most of the pop-punk from that era (and this is speaking from someone who still loves Sum 41 and Bowling for Soup).

Ah..this era in music.. No one watch Titan A.D, it's littered with nu-metal, 2000s knock off rock. Back off, I'll take you on! Headstrong, I'll take on anyone! No, EVERYONE watch Titan A.E. in spite of the nu-metal. It's great. One of Don Bluth's more underrated films. It's not Secret of NIMH level good, but it's visually brilliant and fun.

Why am I having flashbacks of the Invasion angle the ECW revival right now?
By the way, I preferred Drowning Pool when they did "Step Up."

I'm pretty sure that part in Down With the Sickness was done soley for shock value, which is the sort of that was in vogue then. You should know that considering this is a wrestlng forum and that song came out during the crash tv shock value heavy Attitude Era. And dismissing PTSD and abusive parents as 'mommy issues' isn't cool. I'll apologize there and agree with that sentiment. My bad on that awful comparison.
