So Capcom has found out about this thread, and Capcom vs. FAN is in the works. Specifically Turbo, Second Strike, This Will Teach Your Sass Mouth edition. I bet I'll get blamed for this. I demand use of water based powers.

Unfortunately, they have yet to start something with Toei, bummer. I know that'd be more likely to be something like Liu Bu in a fighting game, but my first thought was Final Fight Warriors, and I am all the f*** over that idea.

Personally I think they do it to create some kind of brand unity. Mega Man and his buddies would be entirely justified in feeling somewhat peeved at Capcom, but when push comes to shove they'll turn up to help the team against some other company.
So long as Capcom remembers to make one of these games every few years, the various characters and franchises they've slighted will be distracted from their overall aim of achieving sentience, unleashing a real life Maverick virus to hack their way into actual robot bodies and storming Capcom headquarters.

Why can't they pick a fight with Netherealm I want Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter dammit Ono said they ain't gonna do that 'cause they don't like the idea of SF characters getting Fatality'd. They got round that with Brutality for DC vs MK as the superheroes did not kill. It's entirely possible to do this if both parties are interested.

One of my favorite fighting games back in the day was Eternal Champions. I'd love to see some of those guys show up in a Capcom fighter. When Sega did Fighters Megamix for the Saturn I thought they would be part of the roster but instead was Virtua Fighters taking on non-fighting game characters. Actually the selling point of Fighters Megamix was Virtua Fighter vs. Fighting Vipers, Sega's other fighting franchise. The Non-Fighter guest characters were just bonuses.

I always thought it was weird that Marvel, DC, Mortal Kombat, and Street Fighter characters participated in cross-over games...but never in the most *obvious* cross-over games. Marvel vs DC and Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat.
But MK seems to be the *only* franchise Capcom won't pick a fight with. Ryu has thrown down with Mario, Sonic, Pac-Man, Beretta, Cloud Strife, Mr. Game and Watch, the Incredible Hulk, the assembled cast of Tekken, and the Tatsunoko all-stars. Tell Scorpion to get over here and finish up the set.

It's entirely possible to do this if both parties are interested. And even that was pretty bullshit because some of the moves the DC people heroes did would flat out kill someone. I mean Green Lantern shoved someone into a tiny green orb... that's fatal. I always thought it was weird that Marvel, DC, Mortal Kombat, and Street Fighter characters participated in cross-over games...but never in the most *obvious* cross-over games. "Why is Capcom always picking fights with other companies?"
Because they own Street Fighter.
Sounds appropriate they'd be picking fights.

I do have to say though, Master Asia would be an awesome SF guest character. I'm confuseid you mean Master Asia from G Gundam??? I think I'm missing something here. Yes, that Master Asia, THE UNDEFEATED OF THE EAST~! The logic was as follows: Ryu (from Street Fighter) was in various crossovers over the years, including the recent Project X Zone. In Project X Zone he interacted with at least a few Super Robot Wars characters, thus taking part in the Super Robot Wars Multiverse. The Super Robot Wars series is itself a huge crossover of mecha IPs, mostly anime, including the ever popular Mobile Suit Gundam series. G Gundam is part of that. Master Asia is a character in G Gundam. Master Asia has a pretty SF-like look and fights like a SF character (he's like a mix between Gen, Rose and M. Bison). Thus, he would be a great guest character in a SF game if they ever have a non-Capcom/Tekken character in there.
