The Shield was very strongly implied to be CM Punk's henchmen, and then... not. Also, Hey, we have a secret Raw General Manager, who could it be? Let's build a big mystery about it and vaguely suggest a bunch of suspects! And then.... never do anything about it and let it trail off into nothingness and then just bring it back as a punchline, ok never mind. Along similar lines, Michael Cole's heel character just kind of stopped for no reason, right? In regards to Cole's heel character, it stopped because of Lawler's heart attack. I thought it stopped right after the blowoff to the Cole/JR feud? Cole walked back to the table, said he was sorry and wanted to continue like professions and all was immediately forgiven.

He kept doing stuff like that and having bits like that stupid match he had with Cena where Cena covered him in barbecue sauce.

Kaitlyn turning heel and joining the Divas of Doom. It got dropped in between SmackDown being taped and SmackDown being aired so it technically didn't happen. That reminds me: That was quickly dropped. It just went to Epico and Primo being a tag team with Rosa as their manager. Hunico just had a tag team partner in Camacho. See, now I'm torn. Because this combined with that triple team finisher sounds really good. But I did really enjoy watching Rosa walk them to the ring. I can't decide which I'd rather have.

A thread about the Rosebuds popped up on here and it made me think of brass rings. Perhaps even a club devoted to one of them. Disregarding how bizarre this is in retrospect when AJ, Gallows, and Anderson are all in the company now, I think we should all take some time to remember the storylines of this decade that just never wanted to exist and were buried like Nexus buried The Undertaker. Tyson Kidd is so f***ing cute. That's all I have to add to this.

Heyman saying he had nothing to do with it. The Shield help Punk. Heyman saying he had nothing to do with it. Brad Maddox filming skits with his personal cameraman. All the Shield promo with them finding a camera backstage. Maddox asking Heyman for work. Maddox announcing he would be in the Rumble. Maddox still pestering Heyman. Wwe.com posting that Maddox was attacked and will miss the Rumble. Heyman being revealed to be the one who paid Maddox and the Shield and then asked The Shield to silence Maddox. Also revealing that Maddox' cameraman was how the Shield were able to constantly find cameras.

Lots of Rumble build ups don't happen at the Rumble. Other than the mentioned Corre/Nexus, you also have the Royal Rumble 2002 being built around Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho but ended up with Brock Lesnar winning. The Roman Reigns/Goldberg and Braun Strowman showdown never happened because they wanted Baron Corbin to have a cool elimination. The Raw side was built around Y2J vs HBK, the SD side about Lesnar vs Heyman. The Y2J/HBK stuff paid off right away from the very start of the match.

Josh Matthews 50 second heel turn where he called out Cole for being a Cena mark after the Ryback heel turn.
& Who attacked Hideo Itami in the parking lot before NXT takeover.

all I remember of this was the initial beat-down/drag-off and my friend, who hadn't watched wrestling in years asking "what the hell are they gonna do? rape him?" The "liar" is because they thought no meant yes.

Yeah, Heel Cole stopped openly antagonizing Jerry but he was still Heel for a bit afterwards and didn't truly stop until Jerry's heart attack.

The Dolph/Kaitlyn/Vickie storyline from NXT season three. I think it would've been great to translate to Smackdown, especially since Kaitlyn won the season.

I thought that for all thier bravado and speeches about justice it was revealed the were simply common mercenaries. Kinda figured that was the case since they were supposed to be a hypocritical heel faction. Did make me laugh when Rollins said "last night at Elimination Chamber, we solved the Cena problem" while John was due to main event against Rock a few weeks later. A solid 'C' for effort (or a "you can't 'C'" in this case), Shield, a solid 'C' for effort.

Ranjin Singh randomly calling Great Khali stupid, and saying he was scared of Nexus, then appearing with him again soon after with no mention of it. The biggest reminder here is that Ranjin Singh was a thing that existed. I liked him as Khali's translator. "The Great Khali said...", and he can say anything. The good guy takes a punch at him, Khali shuts good guy down. Instant feud.
