Mitsuo Momota, who spent most of his active years in All Japan and NOAH as an "opening match" wrestler, is the son of "The Father of Puroresu" Rikidozan.

Ted DiBiase Jr. In fairness he seemed to want to get out the wrestling life and once he did he never looked back Brian Lawler as mentioned could never escape his fathers shadow Ted Jr had his first match back about a month ago at a Pro Wrestling EGO show. Talked to the promoter of EGO not long after the show and he strongly hinted that Ted Jr is gonna keep on working 3 or 4 matches a year. But mostly for feds in MS or LA. One name I haven't seen mentioned yet is Dirty Andy Dalton. He is the son of Frank Dalton. Frank was a huge star back in the 70s. But Andy ,sadly, seems to be only known to a small set of fans of Texas/Deep South indies.

I don't know how fair the comparison can be made, we are still only a generation or generation 1.5x removed from the territory system. A lot of the past generations dating back to the 1960s and 70s would be huge stars today and some of today's wrestlers would have fared better in the past than today. It really is apples to oranges.
But yeah, first names that popped in my head were Brian Christopher, Ted Dibiase, Jr., David Flair, David Sammartino, and Ivan Putski.

Has he actually had matches yet, or is he still in training? I don't actually know, he might have given up on it completely because he was never going to get a fair chance. He was backstage at the WWE Live event in Edmonton last weekend, even posted a photo on twitter of himself in the ring. But it looks to have been just to visit with the people he knows from WWE rather than anything in terms of him working.

Joey Marella? Another obvious one is David Flair, although I'm not sure how much he really wanted to be in the business and the odds are really low that he was going to outdo Naitch. I think this should be relative to how big a star the first generation was, especially in a case like Dustin Rhodes. 99% of all wrestlers ever would kill to have the career that Dustin had and he still couldn't get to Dusty's level, but he still had a great career. That also leads to other cases where on paper, they SHOULD be living up to it, but for reasons outside of any possibility they never will. That list pretty much only consists of Charlotte- getting a historically huge push to begin her career, getting a huge push as a star, objectively being given every opportunity to be THE WOMAN in WWE and be the core female superstar they have...but solely due to being a woman and the women's title just not being on the same level as a men's World Title, it's virtually impossible to outdo Naitch. Charlotte also has the problem of her father being Ric Flair... and as good as she may or may not be I doubt she can eclipse that. Ditto with Cody (no last name).

Well, he wasn't a wrestler. As a referee, he couldn't have gone much further. He refereed a lot of really big matches in the top promotion. Earl Hebner did become the top referee not long after he joined WWE, but Marella was still one of the top referees there for years.

Granted, Daichi Hashimoto is still young and has his whole career ahead of him, when your dad is Shinya f***ing Hashimoto, it's gonna be pretty hard to have a better career than him.

Out of the three Flair children who followed Ric, Charlotte is the one you should leave out of a thread like this.

Yeah, I mean it's a stretch but he is the son of Gorilla so it is less successful I'd think....

As far as what he did as a referee, he had a lot of success with big matches with Hogan and Andre and he appeared in No Holds Barred as a referee.

At least Cody has a reason to be less successful outside of it. With how he's fallen off a cliff on the indies and been exposed, it can at least not be a hot take to say "Cody didn't even have as good a career as Dustin, much less Dusty". With Charlotte, even if she IS better than David or Reid- again. As long as SHE is Ric Flair's daughter- nothing else will work even if she's the top woman in the company. She can hold the Women's Title 16 times, she can be undefeated at PPV...but even then, nothing short of "WWE declaring their women's titles to be World Championships" (they should have done it) or "Charlotte wins a men's World Title" (WWE made it clear it'll never happen) will make Charlotte Flair's equal.
