There's also simple interest. Hell, they wore the fact that the graphic style isn't changing on their sleeves with that one slide of the side-by-side comparison of FPW-R and FPW-W's graphics, and boasting that nothing's changed graphically. People who are fans of the series will respond well to that. It's part of the charm of the series. Will it bring new people into it? Maybe not, nor should it, because the graphics are secondary to how the series plays. Plus, half the charm of the series is seeing how close you can make wrestlers with the limited pieces that you have. Yeah, personalization was god-like in FPR. I would imagine it will be even bigger here BEFORE PC mods. Also, there's a video of Suda51 hyping this game. *pro-wres LOVE pose* LET'S PARTY NIGHT! I love that man.

I've never played a Fire Pro game before, maybe I'll start with this one.

I've never played a Fire Pro game before, maybe I'll start with this one. Just be aware, the learning curve is high to learn. Be prepared to lose a lot as you learn the system. A lot of times, I sim the matches rather than play the computer. That said, that's going to be one of the benefits of online, playing against people of the same skill level is going to help people who get frustrated playing this game learn without giving it up.

Suda is helming this game?
There better be a storyline involving your character seeing everyone he loves die and then committing suicide after becoming champion upon realizing that his successes are meaningless in the face of all that he has lost, or else it's a waste.
But seriously, so hyped for this. I wonder exactly how customizable the matches are though. The steam page has a bullet point about "mixing up the rules" but then it only describes a few modes (which seem to be pretty much the same as before: traditional matches, MMA rules, Kick-boxing rules and deathmatches. I'm still crossing my fingers for tables and/or ladders. Or at least proper hardcore rules.

I'm thrilled that this is happening.
I think this game is way too timing oriented though for online to work, those grapples literally come down to milliseconds.

Suda said in the video that he is "supporting from the sidelines", so I don't think he's involved (there's also no mention of his company, Grasshopper Manufacture, anywhere in the trailer). And I don't think there will be much more "rule mixing" than what we already had. Hope we do have more hardcore match variety though (it can go all into deathmatch style, just give us more options like lumberjack and such). Also, since the engine seems mostly the same, I hope we can have more people on screen. I want 20 men battle royals, dammit!

And I don't think there will be much more "rule mixing" than what we already had. Bit of a shame if that's the case. It's weird how these games try to represent all wrestling styles yet the gimmicks and rules seem so Japan-centric. But hey, it looks like we'll have some proper cage matches so that's something at least.

I'd be more hyped if I could actually play it. Maybe my laptop can handle it. But sad no Xbone.

Does anyone know who the different wrestlers in the video were?

Does anyone know who the different wrestlers in the video were? I think they might have just been generic models for the trailer. None of them rang ANY bells with me.

Yeah, I think clearly showing guys like AJ, Cena, Okada, et al, would probably start them off on the wrong foot and attract the wrong type of attention. I mean, after all, those wrestlers will totally NOT be in the game...

Does anyone know who the different wrestlers in the video were? One of them totally looked like Masahiro Chono (black pants, goatee) despite having a German Suplex in the moveset. Dunno about any of the others.

I just don't see the appeal of these games. They always look like a SNES game. It's 2017, we have PCs and game systems that produce AMAZING looking games...and this game looks exactly like the PS2 game did (and it looked outdated then, too). And the awkward, fixed camera angle is just terrible. And it makes the controls beyond clunky. Sorry, not trying to be a Debbie Downer. Just my 2 cents. I hope those of you who have been looking forward to this really, really enjoy it. A. Budgets are a thing. Better graphics costs more money & FPW isn't a high enough seller to make back the costs. B. Gameplay> Graphics. The WWE games have been shitted upon for years while fans still praise FPW's design. C. Sheer, massive quantity of Wrestlers. Returns had 300+ in-game & save slots for an additional 500. The WWE games released during those days were more like 60 & 30 respectively. Sure more recent games have increased the numbers that's at least partly due to advancing tech in disc & hard drive capacities & they're still from reaching Returns. A new FPW game released on modern consoles & PC could have damn near limitless CAW slots. See, the gameplay is honestly my biggest problem. Everything about the gameplay feels completely clunky and borderline unplayable. Just trying to run the ropes is a challenge. And I understand about budgets and such, but...honestly, independent developers put out better looking and better playing games than this one all the time, and there is no way they are working with bigger budgets. Given that they don't pay any licensing fees for real wrestlers, they either have a budget of about $26 bucks, or they are just too lazy to do anything new. Someone else said something about "might not bring in any new fans, and maybe it shouldn't", which is the most ludicrous thing I have ever heard. How is it possible that a game being more financially and commercially successful would be deemed as a negative? Maybe then they could update the graphics and have a camera that moves and allows for a more playable game. As it is, it seems to me that people spend money on these games to create wrestlers and then simulate matches which is just...bizarre. Please no one take this as an attack on the game or it's fans. I am legitimately trying to understand what it is about these games that makes them so loved, especially since one of the biggest knocks I see on long running series is a lack of development, but that seems to be exactly what makes this one so beloved. And it is literally the only game I have ever seen that it seems the majority of people who own it don't actually play the game...

The game's perfectly playable...you just have to learn how to play it. Like any other game.

One thing to consider is that is an incredible feat that you can recreate pretty much every existing wrestler in the world with only using sprites, the game is not pretty, but it has this retro charm with endless posibilities for creation. The gameplay is something that you love it or hate it, even though people shit a lot on the wwe games, I still think that those are great games since they are very easy to pick up while FPR is a little to hard to get into, but when it resonates into you, is an masterpiece

So with PS4 and Steam...have they announced it's a worldwide release yet, or is it just for Japan?

I can't help but think the big yellow guy is Vader, I thought Chono was in their too & one guy who pulls off the Magistral Cradle I can't help but think he looks like an unmasked Ultimo Dragon
On Steam there's a few more screenshots including a tournament with some of the Fire Pro wrestler's names
It looks to be a Worldwide release with versions in English & Japanese
