I'd much rather she got whoever directed Winter Soldier. They got a MUCH better performance out of her than the two Avengers films, in my opinion. Of course I'm gonna start kissing Winter Soldier butt again, but yeah. She was the ideal yang to Steve's old fashioned morality yin. |

If Wonder Woman does well (and I hope it does, for its own sake) I suspect we'll see this greenlit. I'm certain there's a few execs in place fighting this for the same ol' sad reasons.... Interesting how DC is on the ball re: solo female superhero endeavors, and Marvel......isn't just yet. Yeah. Put me down as unable to follow this comment either. Citing reasons already quoted above. Not to mention, Marvel has a plethora of female superheroes and characters in the big money-makers that are a big part of the appeal. I can't say the same for DC. Also, while not good, Elektra 2006 is a thing. |

A throw away line giving her date of birth by Arnim Zola in Winter Soldier killed any point to a Black Widow solo movie.

Why would she want the guy who turned her character into the girl with a crush on her college professor?
No more Joss Whedon. The Hulk/Widow garbage is just a little less awful than the romance in Killing Joke.

It's not that she or the character don't deserve it, and we could certainly use more female led superhero movies. However, it just seems unnecessary. She's played the character in 5 movies with a 6th on the way. She's gotten plenty of screen time as the character, and if they wanted to flesh her out more they could easily do it, they just don't seem to care. And to be be honest, I don't really care either. I don't really give a shit about seeing her do solo spy stuff. She seems at her best when she's playing off these big superpowered guys, because it proves even more what a bad ass she is. A solo movie would probably just be like any other spy movie.

I don't like her. She always comes across as the least useful character, other than arrow shooting man. Yet she's always the character who seems to get hurt the least and "does the most." I always had the sense that that was just because she had the "Grrrl power!!!" thing going on. In fact, the first time I saw her really get handled was in Civil War when she tried that arm bar take down thing on Winter Soldier and he basically power bombed her through a table instead. I marked hard for that. I have no interest in a BW movie at all. However, I would like to add my voice to the one that was calling for She-Hulk! Woman growing and bursting out of clothes? Yes please! |
